devfs in SuSE 8.1?

Interrupts enabled or not ?

I'm having a problem with a parallel-port device. From a response from the maker of the device I learned that there is a chance that the interrupt for that port might not be enabled. Is this possible (I'm using Suse pro 7.2) ? If so, how do I enable this ? How do I check this ? B.T.W. I don't have any printer connected, but I could try this. ssh login timeout

Hi everyone. All I want to do is login to my box at work (IP w.x.y.z) when at home (IP a.b.c.d) and vica versa. I have sshd running on both machines I have w.x.y.z on my home box in /etc/hosts/equiv I have a.b.c.d on my work box in /etc/hosts.equiv I have SuSE firewall2 running on both machines with the ssh option set (presumably this opens up port 22 no?) I have this in /etc/ssh/sshd.conf on both machines: #Port 22 #Protocol 2,1 #ListenAddress 0.0.0.0 #ListenAddress :: The freebsd docs say that the default values should work with 'little or no administrator adjustment'. I have a feeling that the Listen Address should be uncommented and 0.0.0.0 replaced. Can anyone help with this? What am I missing? Thanks, Steve.

OK, so this is totally trivial... I was playing around, giving my KDE desktop a new look, and found the 'linux_addict.jpg' in the wallpaper collection. At first, it appeared cute, but then I noticed a glaring innacuracy. What's a penguin doing with a belly button? That's an anatomical feature unique to placental mammals. too much work at interrupt

Hi I have a new router/firewall for my home LAN. It is a 1.2Ghz celeron, 256Mb ram, 40Gb IDE, PCI display card, 2 cheap NICs. I have a lot of "kernel: eth1: Too much work at interrupt, IntrStatus=0x0001" messages in the "/etc/messages" log. Is there any information where this can originate from, and how to cure it? Jaska.

Pro 8.1 or Personal 8.1

With all the posts I am seeing and information on various Linux pages, I am a little confused about what is included with 8.1 Professional and 8.1 Personal. I currently use 8.0 Personal and find it great for the hobbyist. In /var/adm/backup/rpmdb there should be time-stamped backups of your RPM database. Take the latest one, and copy it to /var/lib/rpm. 'gzip -d packages.rpm-yyyymmdd.gz' and rename it packages.rpm. Finally, do an 'rpm --rebuilddb' and you should be back in business. -jrh

Aaarrgghh!! I'm in complete reinstall of every machine for 8.0!!! Reconfigured samba as domain master and all that stuff.
