How can I configure the Kdict(dict) program in order to enable several dictionaries,i.e, english, spanish, portuguese, etc at same time? Looking for comparison between SuSE and Solaris/SunOS

Hi All, I'm looking for any papers, publications or benchmarks between SuSE Linux and SunOS/Solaris OS's. I've searched alot via Google but haven't found any solid numbers - I'm interested in stats ranging from pure OS activities such memory management, context switching, system call/signal handling speed etc to things like network performance (UDP/TCP). SCSI aic7xxx

Hi, I've got continues problems with my AHA2940U scsi card. I've tried a lot of things like swapping cables, active terminators etc. and still get errors when using Yamaha 8x4x24S cd-burner. Hi I been looking for an kernel rpm for suse 7.1 i did find on gwdg.de k_deflt-2.4.19-40.i586.rpm from mantel can someone tell me if they are running this kernel and if it works good also if it has all the modules etc as kernel 2.4.16 did as i wouldnt want to lose anything i have now also if it does can someone please give me the cmds i need to upgrde this kernel thanks in advance Bob

Hi, I was stupid enought to delete the "samba.conf" file. I thought swat would recreate the file itself, but doesn't. Then I just created the samba.conf file myself, but the configuration program swat doesn't seem to be able to write to the file. I guess that's because I created a totally empty file. Where can I get a samba.conf file with the standard settings from? ~Phoenix

I've just downloaded the missing xf86_glx package, and followed the instructions in 3Ddiag for implementing it (with a Voodoo3). However, when I try to run gears, I get the above message. The only reference I have been able to find is on the German SuSE mailing list, but the solution suggested there (run ldconfig) makes no difference. Does anyone have any idea of what I need to do to deal with the above error? Thanks Kevin

Sound related problem

Hi, I come back with some questions related with sound... 1. My computer configuration is: Gigabyte MB kt333 (VRX), Inno GForce 3 TI 200, 256 md ddr, SB LIve Value, 30 GB IBM Hdd. If I try to run some games, (Wolf, Quake III) I have no sound at all. If I run some windows games with winex 2.1 I have some sound but it is lazzy, with delays. kde sounds work ok, but not all the time.. I have been try to switch to the new kernel from suse (2.4.19 - build with patches from suse). With this kernel I have sounds with kde3 with no problems, but it stop working all my games (Quake and wolf show up only a black screen, and winex refuse to start) I suppose that it is something wrong with alsa configuration. So: - if I will download alsa from alsa-project, and I will compile it i will have that kind of problems ? - if I will not have any results, how to switch to oss drivers that come with the kernel ? In the hope that I will receive any help, I wait for it.. PS.. For all the people with Radeon 8500 ati have just released full 3d drivers on their site for linux (I have a friend with Radeon 8500 and the new drivers are working more that great, better that nvidia, and in plus thei have a control panel - I hope nvidia will do something like that soon for gforce cards, or in a couple of monts I will change my card to a radeon ) PSS -- with windows all my sounds work great
