SLE] 7.2 id's me as windows

I have a dual boot system suse 7.2 using konq & kmail win98se using oe5.5 I used default install for 7.2 I booted on the 7.2 using kong & kmail and I just visited the Opera website to download opera 6.x The site reccommended that I download the windows version of opera because of information my browser supplied. "Based on the information provided by your browser, this is the version of Opera we recommend you download: Version: 6.01Operating system: Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XPLanguage: English (United States)" Where do I look to find a way to correct this? How do I fix this?

samba server an setting time on clients

I have added the line time server = Yes to my smb.conf file. All my win2k machines can do a net time \\servername /set an answer yes an the time is set to what is on samba server. Now the win9x machines will not do it. gives me an error # 2103, the server you specified can not be found. PHP4.1.1->PHP4.1.2 RPMs

Hi, I released 4.1.1 rpms earlier. Then a vulnerability was announced. I have updated the RPMs to version 4.1.2 Again, same URL: http://svartur.rhi.hi.is/php.html -tosi PS: I hope that SuSE will respond with an official RPM as mine does NOT include CURL....

Changing Source of Installation

I want to take advantage of the YAST2 option of copying my SuSE CDs to my hard drive and install/uninstall packages from there. I copied the CDs to /usr/SuSE/CD1...CD2...and CD3. But when I click Next in the process it says the installation medium could not be mounted. How could the hard drive not be mounted? Or is there something else gone wrong? I'm using SuSE 7.3 Personal. Tape drive and Right Kernel.

Hello All, I save a blurb at linux taper cert. site that recommend not using any thing less than 2.4.17 with scsi tapes and backup software. I have only 2.4.16 under SuSE 7.2 now. I occasionally get errors trying to do backups. There was mention of data integrity. Anybody no or heard of this ? Regards, Keith B.

Hello Thank you for the advice. For our immediate problem (eth0) I'll implement SNMP. We will need authentication and RADIUS later though, because we will have wireless clients. But I suppose that won't be a problem, since the Cisco hardware will be talking to the RADIUS, not a software solution using pppd. Thank you again. rebuilding kernel

All, I am having a problem rebuilding a kernel a suse 7.0. My initial install, including source files, of 2.2.16 of the kernel was successful. I modified some parameters, rebuilt the kernel and rebooted successfully with my parameter changes. I then downloaded the 2.2.19 default kernel upgrade from the SuSe website and used rpm to install the package. My parameters were reset to the default. I downloaded the source for 2.2.19 and attempted to rebuild the kernel with my parameter changes but each time that I reboot after the rebuild, I get the following error: Partition check: Root fs not mounted VFS: cannot open root device 48:03 Kernel panic: VFS: unable to mount root fs on 48:03. Can anyone tell me what this means and how to resolve this problem? Hi Keith, Your mileage may vary, but what I did on my home server was use ReiserFS and LVM. The latter lets me treat both drives as a single Logical Volume; the former lets me resize a partition as needed. (The resizing tools are better for Reiser than for Ext2/3.) SuSE 7.3 supports LVM, but it's not well documented. The best documentation can be found out at http://www.sistina.com/lvm_howtos/lvm_howto . NB: the Boot and Root partitions (don't see a need to separate 'em any more) cannot be in the Logical Volume. Shout if you have any questions. XFS Journalling FS/SuSE 2.4.16

Is anyone using XFS for their journalling fs with SuSE 7.3 and 2.4.16-SuSE-24? I would like to setup a MySQL system on a box running the above and thought that someone might have some horror and/or success story that I could learn from. Thank You, Anthony
