Improving Fonts?

Hi All, Is there any way to improve the font selection available in SuSE 8.1, due to the fact that we run a Java based application that clients connect to, and the fonts in some cases just look goofy :). If anyone has a suggestion or a good write-up on how to proceed I would enjoy hearing from you. -Bill

xconsole on 8.1

Hi I grew to like the way the xconsole showing error messages automatically appeared in KDE's panel under SuSE 8.0, but it doesn't appear in my 8.1 installation. mime type problem

Hello, I have installed hylafax. When I fax comes in a mail with a link to the document is send to me. => ftp://tamboti:4559/recvq/fax00004.tif When I klick on it the kviewer opens, I tried to change the filetype association but there is a problem. I tried to associate fax*.tif to my wanted viewer but ever after a komplete restart of KDE the system stil uses the association for *.tif. Can I use a pattern like this fax*.tif? Or is there an other trick? Michael

I thought for some stupid reason that it was part of Lilo since it was installed under 8.0, but not under 8.1 (8.1 uses GRUB), but last night I installed it and put it into /boot/grub/menu.lst as an option. I'm running it now. Ran it last night and got some errors. Not exactly sure what to make of them. Is this program reliable enough that if I get errors it's a pretty good chance I do have some bad RAM? Preston

The klaptopdaemon for 8.1 was compiled to look in the wrong place for battery information -- there is an updated kdeutils-laptop which might address this problem. (I say might, because SuSE has not updated their known problems website in quite a while so I am just guessing that that is why they came out with a new version.)
