C++ and ld issues

Hi, I am running SuSE 7.2. I installed Oracle 9i recently and in the process needed to upgrade glibc to 2.2.2-53. Today I was trying to compile some C++ programs and noticed some linking errors. They were strange and seemed to be present even in the most basic of programs : -- PROGRAM #include <iostream> int main() { cout << "Hello World\n"; return 0; } -- -- OUTPUT > gcc -o test test.C /tmp/ccU8Sg2f.o: In function `main': /tmp/ccU8Sg2f.o(.text+0xf): undefined reference to `cout' /tmp/ccU8Sg2f.o(.text+0x14): undefined reference to `ostream::operator<<(char const *)' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status -- This was working before I made the changes. [SLE] Automatically play an audio CD (resent b/c/o no response yet)

One of my friends has webspace on my server, I set him up an accound, his home directory has the /public_html and he has some cgi-scripts and stuff, well he wants to move his site to my server but we can't seem to get his cgi scripts to work. Can his cgi scripts be in his home account. Look http://64.192.99.49/~kheang/post.html username: guest password: password post type: news and i copied his scripts to .txt and put them in http://64.192.99.49/server/problems/ thanks Brandon Caudle hey man, go to /~kheang/post.html and enter: username: guest password: password post type: news and then submt. It says I'm not allowed to perform the post method. can you figure out what is going on? kheang

This is for SuSE 7.1 (which I think you are running - different in 7.2): Change START_MYSQL = "yes" in /etc/rc.config if you want the server to run automatically at start-up. Otherwise, /sbin/init.d/mysql start (note the readme file in its place later versions). To check it's running type ping mysql. You then need to set the root password: mysqladmin -u root password newpassword You start the mysql client with: mysql -u root --password=yourpassword You will see the mysql> prompt where you can create databases and run queries etc. I guess you will also want to set-up an account for your friend. I've never needed to do this so I'll have to give it some though. However, I would suggest that only you can create databases. Maybe you will want to setup phpmyadmin? Let me know how you get on with this and I'll pick it up again tomorrow (it's late here) unless someone else can help in the mean time. They are not necessarily related to each other btw, since they do not occur together. Linux is running on an Asus TUSL2C/1000Mhz Intel PIII (overclocked very slightly to 1072), with 512MB, and a Matrox G450 video. It is the standard default kernel from the 7.2 distro. I have a usb hub, a usb mouse, and a usb printer attached. The ide-scsi module is for the CD-ROM and seperate CDR/RW devices. It also moans a lot in the log, but without apparent consequence. FRUSTRATED! Printing html files in Linux

There are some really nice features in the recent KDE for printing from konqueror. It has an option for printing a pamphlet to a duplex printer. That works great except for the fact I need an electron microscope to see the fonts on the printed page. Is there a way to tell the printing system to use larger fonts? I tried printing with Mozilla, but then the pages won't fit onto the printed page. The document I am trying to print is found here: /usr/share/doc/packages/mod_ssl > Chapter 3 is the one causing me problems in Mozilla. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. OT:mpegjoin utility

there used to be a utility to join multiple .mpg video files end to end under Unix/Linux. i can't seem to find it any more, it was a console app and you had to type all of the file names in order. or - does anyone know of a GUI based app that does the same thing, maybe allowing wildcards in file name? Broadcast2000 works sometimes on my box. TIA, don
