APC installation mangles halt file?

Hello, Continuing on with my APC installation on SuSE EMail Server II, it mostly works. Pull the power plug, shutdown initiates, but apparently the APC installation program mangled /sbin/init.d/halt. This is running on two Redhat machines correctly, but the halt file is very different on those machines so I'm not making good comparisons yet. I'm getting a complaint of an error near [ @ line 102 I'm attaching the file here (it's small) hoping someone reads this script stuff better than I will see an obvious mistake. automated file upload?

Is there a way to automate the upload of files to a host? [SLE] Sleepy machine?

I have this problem and need some advice/opinion. One of my remote office PC using 7.1 pro working as DHCP and internal DNS running on Intel i815 mobo keep falling a sleep in the middle of the night (3am, 7am, 11pm, etc randomly), and loss connectivity both locally and remote (where my office is) when trying to connect the next morning. The fact is it just need to touch the keyboard and it wake up and running as it suppose to be. But this is a big problem as the remote site is unmanned most of the time. APM is not active, no funny logging in the /var/log/message but the log just stop there? what can be wrong? I have a similar setup using i820 PC doing the same thing in another remote site and it does not have this problem. Both PC setup is almost (I supposed) the same. Any comment? Dennis/sg

Netmeeting through IP Masq connection

I've done a little research and I've run across a site which states that a special module (ip_masq_h323.o) needs to be inserted and compiled to be used. I've follwed the instructions, and recompiled mantel's 2.4.5 kernel. It bombed during the make modules step with errors about deferencing (???). I'm wondering if this is really needed, and if so how do I resolve such errors? Anyone who has successfully used NetMeeting/Video conferencing to a Netmeeting user please advise. Thanks in advance. Off this subject ya may recall I was getting errors compiling kernel a few days ago. After reading a document (www.bitwizard.tl/sig11.htm) I tried dropping the clock frequency for my 800eb P-3 proc. It runs flawlessly at 744MHz (124MHz X 6 clock multiplier ). TO others out there. Just because a intel chip says 800 doesn't mean that it can reliably run at said frequency. 7.2 installation

Well, I finally received 7.2, and I tried two types of installation. First, an upgrade from 7.1 and then a clean install. Strangely, this time, the upgrade went better :) The clean install never asked me what kernel I wanted to run, which the upgrade did. A bit odd, but no big deal for me. The default kernel worked, which is all that matters at this stage. Optimizations can come later When I first booted the clean install, the mouse wouldn't work, it just went and hid in the corner and wouldn't respond to mouse movements. I've had this before and it means that it hasn't been correctly identified as imps/2. I decided to reboot and try the text install, but I forgot to enter 'manual' at the prompt so I got right back into yast2. Imagine my surprise when the mouse worked this time. hm. The rest of the install went without problems (although my printer still isn't supported :() The upgrade worked at the first attempt, without any issues at all, I'm glad to say. This is wonderful :) The rest of the weekend will be spent trying to find differences from 7.1. On the surface there doesn't seem to be much, but I'm sure there's a lot if I dig deeper.
