I get failed dependencies when I try to load this rpm under Suse Personal 7.2.. Does anyone know what other rpms I need to load to fufill all these depencies? Also does anyone know where on the Suse site I might look for this type of information? TIA -- Marianne Taylor

I know, but I tried sending this message to Tim buttler but for some reason it wasn't arriving in his mail box, so I tried posting to SuSE to see if mine or his E-mail was not working correctly. Got DRI on my R128 M3 (kind of)

Hi, I was following the discussions here on how to get DRI up and running. For a while I was trying to get it running on my A21p laptop which uses the ATI Rage 128 Mobility LF (according to X). Now at long last, XFree86.0.log shows me the lines every gamer wants to see: (II) R128(0): [drm] installed DRM signal handler (II) R128(0): [DRI] installation complete (II) R128(0): [drm] Added 128 16384 byte vertex/indirect buffers (II) R128(0): [drm] Mapped 128 vertex/indirect buffers (II) R128(0): Direct rendering enabled Except that there still is a problem. When I switch to mesa (switch2mesasoft) all I get is about 80 fps but the gears are visible. When I switch to xf86_glx (switch2xf86_glx) I get a monochromatic (red or indigo) window and I don't see the gears rotating and the speed goes up to 540fps but the fact that all I see is a red window is not very helpful. Netscape Address Book

Running Netscape 4.76 which says in composer | Address book that the key combination alt shift 2 will bring up the address book. When I do that I get the header all feature. That same key combination will not turn off the header all feature, nor have I figured out a consistent key combination to return to the header normal status. Various repetitions of alt shift 1 and alt shift 3 seem to eventually do it. How do I reliably turn off the header all feature via keystroke and is there a key combination that will bring up the address book? dave

Hi, The output from glxinfo shows that the drivers are installed and that the card works with them. But if you see in the table under Caveat there is several places noted 'Slow'. All entries here should be 'None'. Then you should get more fps. Online-update NVidia drivers --> Bad idea

Hello all. Been lurking for a few days, and I've just had a nasty problem turn up. Here's what I sent to NVidia: --- Summary of problem: I've recently installed SuSE 7.2 on my system. Straight after installing this I did an "online update" which downloaded the NVidia drivers and installed them. After that, weird things have started to happen, resulting in me not being able to get any screen mode that isn't MS-Windows or X-Windows. My system: AMD Athlon 850MHz ABit KT7A-Raid motherboard 250MB PC133 SDRAM UDMA/66 HDD on HPT370 UDMA/100 channel (non-RAID mode) Hercules Dynamite TNT2-Ultra 32MB Iiyama S700JT1 Monitor Dual-boot system with Windows2000 SP2 and SuSE Linux 7.2 (which only boots from a boot floppy). Detailed description of problem: The problem is that when I boot up I do not see the normal "Hercules Dynamite TNT2-Ultra 32MB" message before booting into the BIOS, nor do I see the BIOS information screens, the BIOS (if I hit del anyway), or the RAID controller screens as per usual. When booting into Win2K I do not see anything up until the blue "login" screen, where the resolution changes to 1152x864 in 32-bit colour. Likewise, I do not see any kernel messages from the SuSE bootup process. Don't see the graphical LILO prompt or any point up until the KDE2 login screen (also 1152x864 but in 16-bit colour). X-Windows displays fine; framebuffer and console modes do not. When I say I don't see anything, I actually mean that I don't see a proper image. I _do_ see a kind of swirling noise that appears to imply that the horizontal or vertical sync (or both) is way out of time. This "noise" changes when I would expect there to be changes on the screen. Sometimes (under Linux) a white screen with a lage NVidia logo appears in the centre when a resolution is changed. All was well under Win2K for well over a year now. Under several versions of Linux too. It was only after doing an online update within SuSE that this happened. I'm a bit pissed off since I was not told that doing an Online Update or upgrading my NVidia drivers may mess up my graphics hardware to the point where I can't use console mode in Linux or get into my BIOS.
