Hello, I've been using S.u.S.E since 6.2 came out and am now using 7.0. I used the same mouse for it untill just today. My mouse finally died and I replaced it with a different type. (I was using a Logitech Gyro-Mouse) I switched over to a Microshaft (er, Microsoft) Intellimouse w/ trackball) I went to update Sax just so I wouldn't have any problems. Well, initially the program suggested I use Sax2. Well, Sax2 find my graphics card and monitor fine, however, it displays my screen too large (at 640x800). It won't accept any other settings, however it shows that my screen and card (Sis Card SVGA accelarator) will accept additional settings. I couldn't resize the screen small enough in the Xsession Sax starts up. To make a long story short, I ended up running Sax rather than Sax2 to correct the problems. Anyone else have similar problems with Sax2 ? - Dave -

KDE2 on SuSE 6.4

Has anyone installed KDE2 successfully on SuSE 6.4? I tried with the RPM's of the SuSE site, but there for SuSE 7. After installation, KDE2 doesn't work (crashes, I get a background with bombs on it...) Thanks Guy

FreeBSD program sought on Linux

There is an extremely handy program on freeBSD called netcat (actually program name is "nc", but it is not Night Commander), that allows you to pipe through socket connections. Does anyone know of a similar Linux program ? If not I may just port it... thanks Cliff

I would recommend checking your apache.conf file. Check that the directory where the scripts are is allowed to run them (just use the default cgi-bin directory configuration in apache.conf as reference). Second, check that perl exists and that it is in the location that the scripts are pointing to. Also, check that the files do not have those annoying dos encoding characters at the end of each line (using an editor like vi, joe, just do not use pico for that) they appear as ^M as I recall (that usually happens when you move files from a windows machine to your linux box). Is not likely to be the cause, but just in case take a look at that too. Advocating Postfix

There have been some questions lately here about Postfix. I decided life was too short for dealing with sendmail and have been happily using Postfix for some time now. I would highly recommend it. If you want to change over here are some recommendations: - First Read the FAQ - Look at www.postfix.org - If you have questions send them then to postfix-users(a)postfix.org I have never had to wait more than 24 hours for an answer, usually a lot less. The author himself reads and responds to many of the questions himself, and there are a couple of other more or less resident gurus. Cliff (This was a public service announcement :) p.s. There is a small bug in the Suse/Linux installation with regard to timezone handling. I posted my solution to this a few days ago. I believe a revised script is available for this.

Maybe a stupid question, but does anyone know if the presentation program from KDE2 can display one text line at a time in a slide? This is the one important feature I couldn´t find last night. I'd like some way of putting copyright messages in the bottom of all slides, but it's not too important. Import of ppt files - how well is it working?
