[SLE] KPPP seg faulting

KPPP has just started seg faulting on mem, everytime I try to run it. A few months ago, when it was doing this I restarted the X server and kppp would work. Now it won't come up at all, even after a reboot. I've had to go back to connecting with scripts. Does anyone have any ideas? [SLE] CGI wizards around?

Hiyas, All - Here is a script i was given to run a roman numeral webpage counter. I'm not a perl-er, so i don't know if it *should* be able to work in its current state, and if so, i'd so love to be able to make it do so. I'm clueless about things CGI-ish, obviously. [SLE] Video Cards

A few weeks ago I posted a message on this list that under SuSE 6.3 Sax hangs when I use my 4MB Mach64 AGP card. Also, my text cursor in Netscape was nearly invisible, and then logging out from KDE, I would get vertical stripes rather than a gray screen. And, the background on some scroll bars contained some garbage. Someone on this list mentioned that my board may not comply to the current VESA frame buffer standard. I tested my system with an 8MB ATI Xpert98 PCI, and I was able to run Sax successfully, and the stripes disappeared, so I think the problem is definitely the old board. I can't use the PCI board because I don't have any available IRQs. I am planning on upgrading to a new AGP graphics board, and I was looking for some recommendations. I don't play video games on my system, so I don't need the a top of the line board. I was looking at some prices. The Diamond Stealth AGP was running about $94 US, With the 3Dfx Voodoo3 3000 AGP running about $150. What's the current state of the SiS 6326 support in SuSE 6.3? Does the SDB article "Graphic cards with SiS chipset 6326 don't work" still apply ?? General note - from recent posts there seems to be some misapprehension as to what hardware raid support is. As long as the actual controller is supported (eg Mylex DAC960, Compaq SmartArray) the RAID controller presents the RAID set to the OS as a single volume, which is then treated like a normal disk - partition, format etc. Anyone who RAID 5's in software is braver than me! > > No, unfortunately not yet. [SLE] Minimum Install

I just aquired a 486-25 w/120 MB HDD and 18 MB RAM. I would like to use it as a firewall/router. How should I set this up? How big should the partions be? A minimum install of 6.2 is about 92MB. Plus a swap partion of 18MB that leaves me with aprox. 10MB free. Maybe. Does anyone have experience doing this? In addition to the above I need to be able to telnet/rlogin as this box will not have KMV. Jon's gonna' post a followup about a SiS chipset! :) Have you checked the SDB (http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/index.html)? There are a few posts about your chipset (which, I might add, was my chipset many moons ago). Just doing a search for `SiS 6326' yielded four sdb articles, two of which are useful, two of which basically say `keep your pants on, we're working on it'. Give that a shot... I will also say that XFree86 3 did a rather poor job of supporting these chipsets; some worked flawlessly, others were heavily flawed. Mine was heavily flawed. You need to be concerned with two files: ~/.xinitrc /opt/kde/bin/startkde If either of these files were manually modified, you need to change them back. ~/.xinitrc is easy to fix, all you need to do is `cat /etc/skel/.xinitrc > ~/.xintirc', and you're back to normal. The startkde script is a bit more complicated, but not much. workes like a charm , just had to edit the syntax for starts to "startx -- -bpp 16 " then it works real nice. Thanks for the idea of puting it in /usr/bin , so every user can use it to swich.
