[SLE] dvi files

Hello there I've been trying to read the books that come in package books, series doc1, but haven't been able. They are files type *.dvi. I've used Kdvi and gv, but allways get the messagge: What's this? DVI problem! Not all pixel files were found Can anyone give me a hint on this? [SLE] Re: removing linux partitions

[SLE] Problem w/ Hylafax/SuSEFax

[SLE] SuSE got fried

Hello, I installed SuSE on a computer for my Aunt. My little cousins, as it turned out, were not logging off. Instead, they were just turning the power off. The computer no longer boots up. I talked to them via the telephone, and I don't even think it gets to the LILO prompt. Is there any easy way to fix the damage, or is a complete reinstall necessary? I'm in Moscow Russia, and they are in Houston, Texas so I can only fax them the info and get some messages to them via email of a friend. I know it could be a hard drive crash too. [SLE] What kind of KDM is this???

I have installed SuSE 6.3 about 4 times for various reasons. Two of those times I had a problem appear that makes KDM rather worthless. Instead of placing only the valid users; root, me, etc; it put "users" such as adabas, firewall, apsfilter, and others. Also it did not set up all of the various wm's under Session. Has anyone else experienced this problem? It's not that big of a deal. I boot in runlevel 3 and type: startx <wm>; i.e. startx gnome and it works fine. Also I like being able to drop out of X into the console but I would like to know what's up with KDM if I ever decide to use it again. [SLE] chroot ftp user?

Hi, I have proftpd 1.20 pre10 running on SuSE Linux 6.3 (Intel) and have this user called 'upgrade'. I want to be able to chroot this user, so when he ftps in he can not get out of his home directory, for example: /home/upgrade/ would be his root directory and can not see anything under, but for normal users, when the ftp it I would like it for them to be able to go anywhere they want (or change with normal file system permissions), like /tmp directory for example. Any ideas on how to do this? I would also like to keep anonymous login NOT allowed on this server. Is Atipa the only rackmount server that you can get with SuSE ? I like the Atipa box, but I will have to get some other quotes before purchasing. I'd like to use SuSE for this DNS requirement. [SLE] Failed service in runlevel 2: junkbuster

Hi there, I recently downloadad and installed junkbuster rpm -i junkbuster.rpm However, after boot I get the following messages: Starting Name Service Daemon /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/S84junkbuster: /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions: No such file or directory Master Resource Control: Failed service in runlevel 2: junkbuster What would be the problem? Also, When I do rpm -e junkbuster it doesn't uninstall anything. Why not? Hi Here is my candidate for stupid question of the month: Can I upgrade my SuSE 6.0 packages by grabbing SuSE 6.2-6.3 rpm's from the SuSE ftp site? I haven't found an explicit answer to this question, maybe there isn't one. What prompted this question? I wanted eterm. I downloaded the source but to compile it I had to download imlib. To compile imlib, I had to download libpng. To compile this, I had to get GTK. To compile GTK, ........... I think you get the picture. I'm normally patient but this is getting seriously ridiculous.
