[SLE] new parallel port

Hi folks.. My scanner (HP 3200) hate my printer (lexmark 1000) and I can't connect them all to the same parallel port (the only one in my motherboard Asus P2B). So I bought a new parallel port EPP/ECP not pnp to connect on Isa slot. Windoz can see the new port, but Linux can't.. How to make my new port work in SuSE Linux too? Do I have to recompile the kernel? I don't think so, since I already have LPT support on it.. [SLE] Can't get to root login

Hi, Well being new at SuSE I've really done something I think will be hard to repair. I kept getting the wrong symbols when using an Xwindow in KDE. So to fix it I used YaST and selected another 'us' keyboard type. after that I can't log on anywhere on main console. All typing is $#$%%^ etc. But I do have a Multiuser card and the login for Wyse60 terminals works fine but they cannot access root. But they are setup for user accounts and do NOT have root access and the only reason I can log in as a user is because the Wyse60's use their own terminal and keyboard tables. Is there any way I can get into YaST? I think I can access it by booting from the CD #1. Right? Any ideas ? [SLE] I lost my localhost

Hi , I was hoping you kind folks could help me with a networking problem. I have a 3 computer net with win98/linux dual boot. The win stuff is a no-brainer. But Linux... I upgraded my kernel from 2.0.36 to 2.2.12 and rebuilt 2.2.12 several times until I got my pci nic card to work (rior to the upgrade the nic driver would not compile) In the process, I did something??? and lost my localhost. I also have a message while booting: modprobe can't locate module char-major-4 My modem gets initialized (i'm sending this message) conf.modules shows char-mahjor-4 to be a serial device. I suspect this is unrelated to the localhost problem and that I will probably need to rebuild the kernel again but I am not certain. The dummy device and eth0 get set up just fine and the nic works (I can ping the other computers). Hi, I did an install on a machine with a soundblaster CDROM. It went quite well without any problems and only involved one extra step (loading the sbcd module). Here is what I did. 1) Boot from the install floppy. 2) When you get past the keyboard (or is it keymap) selection you will come to a menu where you can find out various parameters of the kernel. The selection you are looking for allows you to load modules for your CDROM. 3) When it asks for the modules floppy, just swap it in. (I'm not quite sure when it will ask, but it will). 4) Scroll down the list until you find the proper module (if you don't see it select more modules). The module you want is soundblaster cd (sbcd). 5) Go back to the previous menu and check the loaded modules and it should show up. 6) Proceed to install as normal. Note that I've seen some newer soundblaster cards that have an IDE interface for the CD. The above won't work if you have an IDE soundblaster. [SLE] How do I get around the firewall

All: I have probably a very simple question. My service provider randomly blocks port 25. Is there a way to accept mail on another port? Will transport agents that are trying to deliver the mail to me know that it is on another port? Is there a service that porvide mail store and forward to antoher port? I appreciate any help.
