[SLE] make errors?????

I am getting the following error when use the make command. Configure seemed to work without any errors. If someone could point me in the right direction (what am I missing, etc...), I would appreciate it. This is on a SuSE6.3 box, on which I am trying to install the GAIM client. /usr/include/gdk/gdkprivate.h:31: X11/XLib.h: No such file or directory /usr/include/gdk/gdkprivate.h:32: X11/Xutil.h: No such file or directory Thanks for any assistance! [SLE] VT100 ANSI

Hi and thanks in advance. I am running 6.2 and am new to linux. I need to be able to emulate (?) a VT100 terminal when logging on to a partcular machine. At present all works when I log on except the F keys, which unfortunately are vital to the use of that software. Any suggestions? C4; Markoff, John Four members of the original Apple Macintosh team--Andy Hertzfield, Mike Boich, Susan Kare, and Guy Tribble--have joined forces to redesign the Linux operating system and give it a whole new life in the consumer desktop market. In order to accomplish such a feat, the group formed Eazel Inc. in the fall of 1999, receiving financial support from two former Apple executives. Since its beginnings, Eazel has formed an alliance with a group of Linux programmers, a relationship both sides are hoping will bring their separate areas of expertise together to create a product so user-friendly that individual computer owners will prefer the new Linux over other operating systems, especially Microsoft's Windows. Eazel is to be responsible for the appearance of the new version of Linux, while Eazel's programmer partners will be in charge of restructuring the system's internal design to automate many of the system-configuration and management tasks that often give users trouble. This summer Eazel plans to introduce a free user interface, an icon-based software control system that can be downloaded from the Internet, designed to make their version of Linux much easier to use than Windows-based or Macintosh computers. Some more info on my dhcp client failure. To help debug this, I went to the dhcp server and double checked all of the settings. Looked good, but just to make sure I went digging. On the dhcp server I initiate the dhcpd with debug enabled and monitor the output as I bring up the dhcp client, see below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- jpgh2:/usr/sbin # /usr/sbin/dhcpd -d -f Internet Software Consortium DHCP Server V2.0b1pl27 Copyright 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 The Internet Software Consortium. So, correct me if I'm wrong, it looks like the server is listening fine, it then gets the bootp request from the client, authenticates it from the '/etc/dhcpd.conf', then sends back the IP for the client to use. The client then says basically 'No Thanks'. The only thing I can see is in 6.3 is that indicates its done through yast if you installed the dhclient package from the n series. That's it, one line on how to set up a client. I could work on it some more, however there is no dhclient package in 5.3. I then checked SuSE Linux 6.2 Unleashed, it doesn't even mention dhcp in any format, server or client, in all of its 1096 pages. Hmmmm, I think I know what I will be doing with that boat anchor. [SLE] Netfinity and SuSE 6.3

Hi there I've been using SuSE since the 5.0, and when I was looking for journaling FS, ReiserFS was the only one I found (IBM's JFS does not work yet AFAIK). As ReiserFS only works with 2.2.13 kernel, I got the evaluation-6.3.iso, burned the CD and installed it in two Netfinity 7000, without problems... (using boot disk) But, when I tried to install in a Netfinity 5000, server boot from floppy, but doesn't recognize the cdrom (invalid signature), when I select "Install from CD Rom" The funniest thing is that I forgot the inserted cdrom, and restarted the computer, YaST2 worked fine, and I got SuSE 6.3 installed (about 45 min later), but couldn't modify partitios, or select some packages (for example I always avoid all X stuff in servers). I tried to compile many "flavors" of kernels, with different IDE settings, and copied it to the boot disk mcopy /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage a:linux but it didn't worked, I can only install it when I boot from CD. Can some one help me to solve this? Hi, Techstore.com (http://www.techstore.com/) has a nice collection of Oreilly books at much cheaper prices (upto 40% less). This should be a nice alternative to Amazon.com, given the ban its facing. I have a long experience with Techstore and found it to be excellent.
