[SLE] a few questions

ok, i have a list of problems, so bear with me (and mind my stupidity) via-voice: One of my friends is insisting on running win98 & 2k and now wants SuSE 6.3 on it as well (laptop) the only reason why he wants 98 is because of some device drivers that 2000 can't support yet and also so he could run his voice recognition software. I told him to use via-voice, but he couldn't get the sound card working (it says that the device is busy when he loads the module). he also states that he can't train via-voice (or xvia-voice) to work. this branches down to another problem: wine: i know there was someone somewhere tht had mentioned it, but i am having problems getting it to run. The only reason why wine is to be run, so Dragon-Naturally Speaking, can replace the via-voice problem (he doesn't believe in trying until it works) and then comes the proxy-configuration.. proxy: he also insists on running NT4.0 srvr as the gateway. He has SyGate 4.0 running and it uses some Winsock Proxy. This isn't working for my linux machine/or his laptop. Is there some type of settings to allow this? [SLE] HOWTO: bind for Internet and 192.168.x.x

I am running a network that using 192.168.x.x behind my Linux firewall/NAT server. Presently I am letting my ISP be my primary and secondary DNS server and only using host files on the inside to resolve all the 192.168.x.x address. I would like to host the primary DNS myself. In hosting the DNS myself, I would really like to get it setup where it also resolves all the machines in the 192.168.x.x network also. How do I set it up that way? Especially with the machines that are seen from the outside via net? I don't want someone getting my 192.168.x.x, but internally I do. How do I control this? P.S. The firewall/NAT is also the DHCP server. [SLE] partitioning

Please is there any way to fdisk suse 6.3 without going throught the yast. I tried to partition 10gb drive with /boot, /swap, /, /usr_local, and /home_local. my problem is i could not partition /home_local and usr_local because the f6 new partition grey out on me. I will leave my PC on for a few nights and see if /var reduces in size, but is 100mb for /var enough space anyway? Thanks Rich --- The default cronjobs run at night, but you could change it to some other time, where you know your computer is on and not under heavy use. Or you could leave it on overnight just once a week. Hi I am using SuSE 6.3 and I have set a partition for /var at 100mb. During installation of the default SuSE system, YaST reported that there was 50mb free space, but since running the system /var is now full. Should CRON remove old messages such as /var/log/messages and /var/log/xdm.errors? CRON is set to run, but my PC does not run overnight, should it run overnight to keep space on /var free? Or have I just not set enough space on the partition for /var? [SLE] Win Explorer type app f/KDE?

I'm not sure what this type of application is called, but the actual file/folder directory viewer, move... program like Windows Explorer. I use KDE the default seems to be really limited. I like two panes, one with a tree structure and the other with the contents of the selected folder. Or I'd even entertain other views. Are there any other choices? Where and how do I get one? If it's on the 6.3 DVD where do I find it? [SLE] Still cannot run ppp

Hey folks I`ve got a problem with my ISP When I`m using normal public (in poland) ISP after couple hours of waiting for succesfull conection my SuSE connect and start to ppp. When I want to do the same with my private ISP my ppp daemon dies unexpectly..... What should I do? & what should I ask my ISP to create succesfull conection.
