There's a program(ntsysv) in Red Hat to configure which daemons are initialized when booting, is there an equivalent for this prog. in SuSE? I can't find this option in Yast. [SLE] Pine and netscape...

Hi, I am having trouble getting pine 4.21 to load urls from emails containing html. I have netscape set up as my url browser and when I try to view a url,the netscape intro/help page shows up, without loading the url. This is clearly a config problem of some sort, I just can't figure out what the problem is. If you can help... You may get dupes of this if you are on more than one list! *Please read this whole message* There is a new version of the KDE2 alpha builds (tar.gz and RPM's) available on (These are NOT official release binaries! This is alpha software): ftp://nebsllc.com/kde2/current and http://nebsllc.com (follow links for KDE2 Alpha) This build is built from the 01-29-2000 cvs update as of 10am EST. These builds have been reported to work on all standard Linux distributions. This build includes: qt-copy all kde packages. qt-copy has had a change. While you can try using your old copy I do not recommend it. Please consider upgrading. Once you install, please make sure you have KDEDIR set to /opt/kde2 and QTDIR set to /usr/src/kde/qt-copy unless you override the default paths. If you do, you are on your own. Please take a moment and subscribe to the (unofficial) kde-alpha mailing list that has been setup. The subscribe address is kde-alpha-request(a)nebsllc.com. This is the only way we can contact alpha users without annoying everyone if there is a problem in the build we need to tell you about. It is also a good place to ask questions and get answers about the alpha builds without scaring off the regular kde 1.x users. But for adding users "by hand" I would recommend to use the command useradd. Fellow SuSE users, The hunt for the best GUI RAD Linux development tool is over! I pulled KDevelop out of the beta oven and stuck a toothpick in it... It is just about ready! What a beautiful job the KDevelep team has done... Look and Feel is excellent. The class, source and documentation browsers are excellent. The dialog tool is excellent (with the exceptions noted below). The online documentation is superb, all the way from the C++ tutorial up to developing in KDE 2.0, and adding documentation to your own app. The Application wizard gets an application screen up in no time and you are ready to add/modify your own code. CVS features allow for those abilities! There is even a menu option to generate your app gz file after you are done! There are some rough edges, sharp corners, etc... Not all of the required software is in the rpm. Specifically, you will need to install some additional software: c_reference-4.12.5-bin-Linux-2.2.1-i486.tar.gz kde-2.0-sgml-19990810.tar.bz2 kdelibsdoc-1.0-2.i586.rpm kdesgmltools-19990823-1.i586.rpm webglimpse-1.7.6edu.tar.gz to get the documentation features working properly,which is a pain, but once you have added them the pain was worth it. Oh, and make sure that after you install the beta be sure to run the setup from the KDE menu option "Development -> KDevelop Setup". It works better than the setup option on the tools menu after you have KDevelop running. If you don't, then when you click the Documentation Tab in the browser panel the program will dump core and quite. There are other ways to work around this problems, however, using the Users Documentation generation dialog, which doesn't seem to work but automagically fixes the Documentation Tab click problem. What is yet to be done, besides the usual bugs fixes? I would call KDevelop a GUI rAD , not a GUI RAD... Painting screens and dropping the Qt widgets is probably better than any other Linux RAD I've seen todate, except for IBM VisualAge for Java. To make the 'r' an 'R' in RAD the KDE Develop team needs to add group control manipulation tools. Being able to select a bunch of textboxes and set the size, properties and alignments at one time is a SIGNIFICANT time saver. But, I'll take KDE Develop over ANY other GUI RAD I've tested so far. So, I'm through looking for a decent C++ GUI RAD tool. Now I am going to become thuroughly familiar with this wonderful tool and then begin my project using xbase to add a VFP clone to the Linux world. Life in Linux Land is fun, thanks to the GPL! [SLE] strange problem with screen

Hello, I just ran into a strange problem as i installed SuSE 6.3. The installation went smoothly and everything works alrigth but not screen when you are logged in on the console. As fast as I try to screen ANYTHING (or just start a screen) i get this, Cannot open your terminal '/dev/tty2' - please check Well, check what ? The file tty2 is in the /dev dir.. what more ? [SLE] SUSE 6.3 dhclient works with MediaOne RoadRunner in MA?

I have a Red Hat 5.2 server on my cablemodem now that I want to redo with SUSE 6.3, but I understand dhclient does not play well with some DHCP servers. Has anyone used it with MediaOne RoadRunner in MA? I installed SUSE this weekend on another hard drive in the same machine. Anyway, dhclient would not get an IP address from M1X. This is, of course, a showstopper for me. The error message was "no DHCPOFFERs received". I tried running it in the foreground with -d, and editing dhclient.conf to increase timeouts, etc. No go.
