[SLE] NFS servers' questions

Hi all I'm trying to setup an NFS server which I think I have already done so. Unfortunately, no, because I still not able to nfs its client, "Maestro" from Hummingbird. It is running on NT workstation and already nfs to another Unix, an nfs server too. I try on Maestro because it has proven working when connecting to Unix's nfs server. Can anyone help me on these ? Thanks in advance. Belows are the step I took in setting up nfs and also its feedbacks, First I cat /proc/filesystems and I got the following output:- minix ext2 msdos nodev proc nodev nfs According to "Linux Network Administrator's guide". This is confirmed that nfs is present in Kernel. Yes I had 5.3 before and installed postfix myself and it ran great. Now suse put this into 6.2 and I did the same you did and it did nothing. It started but never got any mail delivered whatsoever. So I switched back to sendmail and it runs fine. No big deal. It means that most standard boot loaders cannot boot the secondary device on the secondary IDE chain. [SLE] Upgrading-a novice question

Hi all, I would like to upgrade my distribution from SuSE 6.0 >6.2 without reinstalling everything using the 6.2 boxed set of cds. However, I'm not clear what my existing manual is saying with regard to the upgrade process in chapter 15. I note that this can't be done with the system running. Does this mean that I need to use the boot disk that comes with 6.0 or with 6.2 (which one?) to initiate the upgrade process or can I simply insert the 6.2 cds and tell Yast to update without using any bootdisk. [SLE] Printer Setup HowTo?

I didn't own a printer when I installed Suse 5.3, so didn't get to ask Suse any of this. Hopefully the questions are general enough to apply to all Suse versions, and most printers. Is there any alternative to reading the complete docs for Ghostscript, as well as the full sources for a2ps, and for apsfilter, in order to use a printer on Suse Linux? An example may explain my question if it's not obvious: To help my installation, I try to print the gs man page. It sort-of prints, but doesn't understand that Unix man pages are 66 lines per page. I uncomment the A2PS_OPTS=... line in /etc/apsfilterrc, to take charge of apsfilter. This results in a log message saying: /var/lib/apsfilter/bin/cdj550-letter-auto-mono-300: line -24: 7271 Segmentation fault /usr/bin/gs -sDEVICE=cdj550 -r300 -sPAPERSIZE=letter -sOutputFile=>(cat - ) - -c quit 1>&2 After some more experimentation, I determine that ANY use of that A2PS_OPTS line gives a segfault. The long pathname is really a symlink to apsfilter itself, and when I look at apsfilter, line 24, it's a comment. Not very instructive. So I put, "study the source for apsfilter" on the to-do list. Studying the man pages for a2ps and gs, I can print text via a crude script of my own, with no accounting, that pipes a2ps into gs. But this isn't a real printer setup, and of course doesn't begin to address graphics printing. My crude man-page printer has too-wide margins, and cuts off the ends of the text lines. So I'd like to take control of the margins, but nowhere do I see any mention of margin control in the doc files. I've read the newer Printing-HOWTO docs at metalab, and they don't seem to address these sorts of questions. Must I hack the Ghostscript source to set printing margins? Come on... Wouldn't "setting the margins" be a FAQ? Does everyone go through this process to print on Linux, or is it just me? I've been an outspoken Linux advocate for years, but I don't know what to say to the Microsoft advocates to explain that I've had this silly printer now for a couple of weeks and I still don't have it anywhere close to set up. Will this whole process be easy in Suse7? [SLE] Firewall/Leafnode anomalie

Weird thing going on here. Trying to figure it out. Managed to narrow it down some what but wanted to run it by the list and see if its just something weird on my end, or if anyone else has run across this before or similar to it. I have a group of filters (a long ass list actually) that I have initialized via ip-up when a connection is made. When the connection goes down, ip-down runs ipchains -F to flush the existing filters and then runs /sbin/init.d/firewall start to start the default firewall on the system. Ok, heres the weird part, if I currently don't have a connection up, then I can't connect to the localhost to read news. But if the connection is up and MY filters are in place, then the connection to localhost works like a charm. To get around this, I can simply have ip-down run ipchains -F then ipchains -P on input/output/forward and set them to accept, at which point, localhost works again. This is all well and dandy and serves the purpose until I goto shutdown or restart at which point when it gets to the firewall it errors because I am not running the defaults in the firewall routine. So as best I can figure out, theres a setting inside the firewall script that isn't allowing localhost thru.
