[SuSE Linux] NFS and nis problem

[SuSE Linux] Laptop suggestions for Linux?

I'm thinking about getting a laptop. For my work I need NT to run on it. For my real life I need Linux to run on it. Any suggestions as to which laptop is best suited to Linux? Yes, ok with your comments but I need the linux box working as a samba server too. Is that a problem ? May the samba server have any conflict with the gateway? I've just tried to configure a ppp conection in my linux box and the samba server doesn 't work anymore. I need to disable the parameter of DNS in parameters of yast to reenable the samba server. [SuSE Linux] Problems with new kernel

I'm having some not so serious problems after compiling a new (2.2.3) kernel. The first symptom is the fact that during bootup I get some messages (Which I can't remember, and I've been looking trough faqs as well to see if they are there.) with regards to some module loading problems. (Can't find module MAJOR 4 something or other;) And I compiled some filesystems as modules, and I wonder, shouldn't these be loaded when needed? They didn't on my system, so I recompiled the kernel with everything inside. (When I tried modprobe I got can't find module...) The ppp device is missing. (I did configure that into the kernel.) Or rather, I get temporaryily unavailable, which isn't good, since it is what I get whenever I try. (And I can't find the hisax module with modprobe, this one I think I compiled as a module.) So, I'm a bit lost now. Yeah, I've followed the compil instructions in the distrib, I've read in the SuSE manual. (So I think I'm not turning to the list in an untimely manner.) Any help appricieated. [SuSE Linux] USB Modem

I have dl'd the usb file but not installed. I am in need of a new modem (my machine came with a winmodem). I see that there are several usb modems available. Has anyone tried one? Will they work in Linux? [SuSE Linux] SAX configuration of XFree86

Why is it that this program can't be used without a mouse? I mean sometimes (after recompiling kernel) strange thins happens and my mouse won't work:( Sometimes I just have to run SAX and use the old configuration (from a backup) and it works. Other times it doesn't, and then SAX is hell, because (to my knowledge) I can't use the keyboard on the confirmation dialog after hitting exit!
