January 12, 1999 A friend of mine suggested that an updated version sendmail could have prevented hundred of copies of the same message from drowning the email list recently. I don't know who the moderator is but maybe the sendmail program could be integrated into the majordomo..... Richard N. [SuSE Linux] 2nd install on 2nd HD

I've currently got SuSE 5.2 on a HD wilh a Win 95 dual boot. I've now got a second HD, and want to install again on the 2nd drive, then copy over my own configuration files from HD1. However, YaST won't allow me to set a / mount point on HD2, as I already have one on HD1. Is it really necessary for you to send tour email with all this certified security? I can read it at home, but at work I can't. Managing a mailing list should be a daily activity that a person undertakes. I did this and minimized the disturbances for an OS/2 word processing list I managed. I also have written a few new recipes. Writing recipes is not the answer, per se. What is the answer is more attention and maintenance activities from SuSE or someone they designate to support the list. At least now I have refined my recipe writing skills. And I have seen the man 5 procmailex pages a few times as well as some web pages. I would like to thank the developer of procmail at this point!! Michael E. [SuSE Linux] ppp died solution at last!! Comments?

I've been trying off and on to get PPP working under SuSE as well as RedHat for about 3 months (off and on) now. I have a US Robotics (3Com) Courier V.Everything internal modem with jumpers. It is not a Winmodem and PNP was disabled. It was jumpered for Com2, IRQ3 and port 2f8. Under minicom I could dial ibm.net and get a clean connection but after 30 seconds I would get garbage on the screen. If I started pppd it would start but after about a minute it would die. Sometimes minicom would just disconnect and end with a message "Killed with a Signal 11". On another computer, my laptop, I could dial in with minicom and get an id password prompt with the same configuration. Eventually I dropped the speed of the modem down to 19200 and I could connect fine. I setup my ppp using kpp and finally I was on the net. As soon as I would bump the speed up I would get kill messages at 57600 and garbage at 115200. After much playing around I changed the symbolic link to reflect cua1 instead of /dev/modem and like magic I could set my port speed to 115,200 and everything worked ! On bootup the modem is assigned to /dev/ttyS1 and I didn't have any irq conflicts (ie:commands worked fine, even at 115200). Anybody have any ideas? BTW I found SuSEppp very confusing, kpp was much better. [SuSE Linux] colors on jpg-pic

[SuSE Linux] Netscape 4.5 copy/paste

I have noticed that Netscape 4.5 installed under SuSE 5.3 does not allow copy and paste for url's except to the location box. 4.5 under NT4 allows copying to the body. What am I missing?
