I'm trying to install SuSE 5.2 onto a PII with an IBM 14GB HD. This drive has 1757 cylinders, but not all of them are recognized. If I select system information from setup, before yast is launched, the full size of the disk is recognized. However, yast won't let me assign a partition to any area past cylinder 1024. Sorry to bug everyone with this but I need advice. I'm seriously thinking about building my first computer. Can someone suggest some hardware that would work well with S.u.S.E. [SuSE Linux] Kmix

Has this puppy worked for anyone? I always get the error message "unable to write to kmixer" and I still have no sound. Using a SB16 with a wavetable daughter card. Admittedly, the manual for 5.3 touches on soundcard configuration by saying "They are configured in a separate step"..... advice here would be appreciated. :) I tried uninstalling the KDE multimedia and going to the generic mixer. It's sliders work, still no sound. Thanks for any advice you have. I'm hunting for the How-To's on my CD's. Greetings- SuSE 5.2 Has anyone had trouble running xrpm? I'm getting an error that python is not configured for tk. I do have both installed. I was just trying to politely point out that while you and I think the celeron is a waste of silicon, there are people out there that it makes more sense for at a substantial savings over a standard intel cpu. If all you do is browse the web, hang out in aol chat rooms, and play Quake online then it's not a bad processor, and they cost less than half what a p2 costs. This cpu is not meant for you and I, it's meant to put pcs in the homes of people that won't spend what we will on hardware.
