[S.u.S.E. Linux] About gcc g77 f2c in Suse 5.2

Hi everybody ! I have now a PC running Suse 5.2 linux OS. I am very happy with it. however today I spent all the day installing gcc, f2c and g77 whith yast. This seems to be excuted sucsecefully. The problem arise when I use it to compile and run a fortran program. here is the problem : aloha:/root # g77 prog.f aloha:/root # ll total 234 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 751 Jul 31 19:46 prog.f -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 163751 Jul 31 19:46 a.out* aloha:/root # a.out & [1] 663 bash: a.out: command not found [1]+ Exit 127 a.out Is this a problem of the shell 'bash' wich come with the distribution (Suse 5.2) ? Or the problem is much more complicated ? Should I learn how to get and compile gcc (from scrach!!) ? Could any one, please help me with advise ? I had sent an email to the person listed as the maintainer of the SuSE graphics cards database, but apparently that person does not respond to personal email. I am hoping that someone at SuSE can give me an idea of how long it might be before either the new Matrox G200 based graphics cards are either supported through xfree or through a SuSE xserver. I realize I may be asking you to guess, well if so, your guess will be more educated than mine. I really want one of these cards, but I need a card soon, and if this card will not be supported for awhile I will have to get a Millenium 2 instead. [S.u.S.E. Linux] IP masquerading and exporting X display

I am now considering putting a few Linux machines on my home LAN which will access the outside through another Linux machine which acts as the gateway. I know I will have to use IP masquerading. But I am wondering if I telnet or rsh or ssh into a remote machine and start an X application from a machine behind the gateway, how do I export the display to it? [S.u.S.E. Linux] refresh rate snafu revealed!

For a long time I couldn't figure out if my s3virge or my monitor was the reason I got moire effect at anything over 800x600. Well, it was neither. It dawned on me that maybe the problem was caused by my voodoo card or the pass through cable. I unconnected my voodoo card and went straight from my s3 to my monitor and now I have perfect clarity at up to 1280x1024! 3dfx cards rock for quake and other games, but they can screw up your desktop apparently. A friend called the other day and wants to install SuSE onto a CD less machine (386 something). I advised him to do an NSF install by using two nic cards as he has two putters. This option is out. So heres the questions: What are the min files/folders that need to be copied from the cd (on machine 1) to floppies to be installed on the HD on machine 2. This will of course be done under dos. Did you install it with the - (or /) net (or something like that) option? I forget the specifics of installation, but I installed it with a _net_ option and it ran great as both root and as a user. When I first installed it I just ran the install script with no options and It worked fine for root, but it didn't work as expected as a user, so maybe your experience is similar to mine? Check out the installation procedures. There is an INSTALL file with the archive and I believe that you can ftp some additional documentation from Star Division. I don't have it installed anymore, so that's why I'm being rather cryptic, sorry. I just started using Linux and I love it. But I'm still quit clueless with it. I just bought cheap bytes 3 cd archive, and I have no idea how to install the programs on it. Could someone please help me. Do I use tar and gzip or both and when, then do I have to compile them. Most programs seem to have more then one compressed file that comes with it. Hello, my printer is a HP 870 Cxi. I used YaST to configure it (with the ASP filter 'hpdj' , which seems to be the best for this printer _ I think ... ) It works fine, but in monochrome, whereas I switched all the 'color' options I could find. Moreover, when I edit the configuration file in /etc, the color option is present. Is someone using SuSE 5.2 and a HP 870 Cxi could help me ?
