[SuSE Linux] eth0 (network unreachable)

Hi guys, Could someone help me out? I get a "network unreachable" whenever I try to connect on the network. I have a 3Com Etherlink card and I once had a network connection successfully connect to another computer but since my new installation I get this error. I tried to recompile my kernel so that I can make sure drivers for my card are available in the kernel but now the system hangs at boot time. I will just select one of the precompiled kernels again but how do I get a network connection? I think I have everything configured right. [SuSE Linux] ATI mach 64?

I just picked up a 2 meg pci ATI mach 64 card, installed the mach 64 server, ran xf86config to direct it to the new server... no problem. problem---> I seem to have lost about 1 inch from the top of my monitor and a little from the bottom! the resolution is640x480 800x600 1024x1024 all the same for 8bpp/16/24/32 The previous setup was an onboard card (this is on a compaq deskpro p90) with Im assuming 1M ram the difference in resolution is *slight* compared to my onboard setup I was told that a 2M would be more than adequate for web browsing, xgames etc, but the difference is minimal and Im not really happy about loosing an inch from my screen... did I miss something in the configuration? [SuSE Linux] SuSE, RPMs, etc.

Hello, Seeking an alternative to RH I've converted to SuSE, however there's some things that are lacking; hopefully it's just that I don't know where to look. First off, can SuSE use RedHat RPMs (that is, the RPMs @ RH's site, and general RPMs like those for korganizer)? Second, I can't seem to find a main list of RPMs @ SuSE's site, does such a list exist (not just RPMs in the main distribution, but also for other software programs)? Third, I appreciate the fact that YaST can be used in character mode, however a GUI equivalent would sure be nice. This is a common problem when using windows95. It ONLY uses filenames to guess what kind of file something is, and *.rpm just happens to mean a RealPlayerModule (if the RealPlayer is installed) The solution is to use a ftp program, or download instead of opening in Netscape/IE/whatever (usually shift+click or right-click->save-as will do the trick) If you have the full adress of a file on ftp, just write it without the /matrox.rpm, then you can select it from the file list in your browser. regards Ole On Tue, 29 Dec 1998, Yatsen Ng wrote: > > I tried to download the matrox.rpm from the SuSE ftp site but didn't quite > succeed in doing so. Has anyone managed to get Weitse Venema's (sp?) [SuSE Linux] Boot disk format?

What details do I need to know to be able to mount the Suse boot disk? I tried minix and ext2 as the filesystems, but it cannot mount it. I want to experiment with replacing the kernel with a custom one...don't ask why! Again, I mean the install disk that comes with it, not the one you create with yast.
