US Mirror Slowness SOLVED (goddamn squirrel)

All, Devs, The horrendous mirror slowness I've had with TW upgrades is SOLVED. Cable co. was out this morning and strung a new 200 ft. cable from the drop to the house. Upper insulation near the drop was gone and outer COAX shielding was partially chewed. Odd thing is it effected some areas of the globe worse than others. For whatever reason, number of hops, different routes, etc.. it effected RIPE addresses worse than most others. Cable company had previously said "no problems on their end". Guy today said, "no, your connection is hosed, I can see that on the screen". Getting competent tech-support is like Russian-Roulette anymore... Good news is mirror-chooser from the US is now working fine, and has been. This was the 3rd cable they have replaced from the drop to the house. Tree-rats are hell on aerial-coax.... -- David C. Can you tell me why this is?

thunderbird - reply - empty lines

Hi, in thunderbird, i receive from most people most times emails shown as html. i do always reply as plain text - to save energy consumption on servers and to make my emails for other people more save to be sure inside plain text a virus is nearly impossible. (google for: energy consumption of emails ) but since maybe one or two years, when i have a html email and the text is shown: blablabla blabla blabla etc. next line and another line after pressing reply: > blablabla blabla > > blabla etc. > > next line > > and another line so there are most times additional empty lines inside. is there somehow something inside the configuration that i could get rid of this additional new lines? correct in my opinion would be: > blablabla blabla > blabla etc. > next line > and another line regards, simoN -- www.becherer.de

Tumbleweed Updates Slowed? Or, just doing build out for 6.12?

All, Devs, The past week or so has seen a significant drop in the updates prepared for Tumbleweed. Has there been a change in the update frequency for Tumbleweed, or are there just a significant number of packages waiting on rebuild for the 6.12 update? Just curious. Yasuhiko mentioned a change in the rebuilds for the kde3 repo and mentioned reducing the frequency to save compute resources. I don't know if this is related, but I am curious as to the seeming dearth of updates for TW. What's the scoop? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Virtual Box: Kernel 6.12 Tumbleweed, modules not signed

I looking for a new laptop. I've had good luck with Lenovo ThinkPads. Costco has two IdeaPads, one with and AMD cpu and one with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Plus. Will OpenSUSE Leap 1.6 run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon? Anyone have experience with a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15.6" Touchscreen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 7530U - 1080p? TIA, Jeffrey

I have "Remote" in my Network. A mac address is given but I cannot trace / track the device (Tumbleweed)

I have an annoying issue in my network. My router shows (besides the devices I know) a "Remote" with access to internet and within the private IP range of the router I use. A mac address is given, could be some gimmick phoning home, malware or some other problem. But....how can I trace the culprit. Currently I blocked internet access of it. None of the devices I use seem to notice, so it would be good to understand how to understand who "Remote" is. I have the doubt it might be the outdated Loewe TV I have at home, running a stone age - Android (about 15-20 years old I guess). As it is branched via a d-Lan device like all the others, maybe that is it, however, how could I get the device more talkative or identify it better within my network? Any ways to track / trace with the IP and the MAC the actual device? What software would I use and how would I proceed. Thank you.
