Qt5 Configuration Tool is not configured correctly.

Hello SuSE universe - I am running OpenSuSE 15.4 x64 with the KDE/Plasma desktop - Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.4 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.14.21-150400.24.88-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 8 ×? Intel®? Core?? i7-6820HK CPU @ 2.70GHz Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: llvmpipe The font size of the Emacs menus is way to small for this old man to read, so I thought to try and figure out how to increase it. Internet searching led me to believe that the font size for the Emacs editor is controlled by QT. When I attempt to launch the Qt5 configuration tool, I get the following error message - "The QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME environment variable is not set (required value: qt5ct)." Digging further into the realms of the internet, most suggestions I found, on how to solve this problem, was to edit the environment file /etc/environment and set the following - QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct However, doing so leads to yet another problem, upon rebooting my laptop, somewhere in the process of setting up the KDE/Plasma desktop the system hangs and becomes completely unresponsive. I have to then reboot to init 3, and edit out this environment variable setting, and reboot again to init 5 to get my desktop back and working again. So, my question dear SuSEites, what do I do now to get the Qt5 configuration tool to work, or more importantly how to I increase the size of the menu fonts in Emacs? SuSE must have it's own way to set up the Qt5 tool and/or set the size of the Emacs toolbar/menu fonts. Can some kind guru shed so light on this dark hole? Thanks as always, in advance... Marc --

how to clear dolphin password after failed sftp login?

Hi, I use dolphin to manage my files on my web-server and connect with sftp://user@url Then (only the first time after boot) a dialog appears to enter my password. Dolphin remembers the password until I reboot my machine. So far perfect. The problem occurs when I enter a wrong password. Then dolphin shows a red line "connection failed", but there is no way (...I found no way...) to make dolphin show me the password dialog again to enter the correct password. Even worse: it seems that dolphin tries several times with the wrong password, so many times, that my server blocks the ssh login for some hours. I tried to log out/log in here on the local machine, but dolphin still tries with that wrong password. It seems I'd have to shutdown and boot again so that dolphin forgets. How can I clear dolphins password memory so that it shows me the password dialog again, without rebooting? Can you help me? Slowroll ID & repos

I installed a clean Tumblweed and turned it into a Slowroll as per https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Slowroll The system now identifies as follows: # cat /etc/os-release NAME="openSUSE Tumbleweed-Slowroll" # VERSION="20231003" ID="opensuse-tumbleweed" ID_LIKE="opensuse suse" VERSION_ID="20231003" PRETTY_NAME="openSUSE Tumbleweed-Slowroll" ANSI_COLOR="0;32" CPE_NAME="cpe:/o:opensuse:tumbleweed:20231003" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugzilla.opensuse.org" SUPPORT_URL="https://bugs.opensuse.org" HOME_URL="https://www.opensuse.org" DOCUMENTATION_URL="https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Slowroll" LOGO="distributor-logo-Tumbleweed" But if I try to update with "zypper dup" then zypper pulls in NVIDIA & openSUSE (Tumbleweed) repos adding them to the Slowroll repos in /etc/zypp/repos.d # ls /etc/zypp/repos.d base-non-oss.repo openSUSE:repo-oss-debug.repo base-oss.repo openSUSE:repo-oss.repo base-src-oss.repo openSUSE:repo-oss-source.repo h264.repo openSUSE:update-tumbleweed.repo NVIDIA:repo-non-free.repo packman.repo openSUSE:repo-non-oss.repo update.repo openSUSE:repo-openh264.repo (trying to start Yast Software Manager just brings on a hang) Shouldn't the ID be the same as the NAME or the PRETTY_NAME to prevent this? Or is it OK for these additional repos to be used?

Dell N5110 shutting off

With fully updated OpenSuSE 15.5 I an having problems with my system shutting itself off suddenly in the middle of simple broswer tasks regardless of Rirefox, opera or Seamonkey or the program manager used MATE or TDE. It used to be just one site appearing to overwork the system now even gmail triggers the shut off. CWSIV

[oS-EN] Clean display

Hi, I wonder if there are tools to help clean the display. I explain. I just want to wipe the display of my laptop with a wet towel (display cleaning liquid to remove stains and special towel). Problem: it is a touch screen, it reacts. I can of course power off the machine, but that takes time and is not convenient "now". So I wonder if there is a tool that displays white or some chosen colour to the display, while it disables the touch screen, till some key is pressed. ? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. iso download drops dead at 98%

I have at times a very slow connection these days, so a TW iso download ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/tumbleweed/iso/openSUSE-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-Snapshot20231107-Media.iso I started yesterday evening with filezilla got as far as 98% by this morning. Then it just stopped, as if the file had been removed while still being asked for. How does this work? What's going on?

I decided to try in on top of my Leap system, just like that, to escape the need for all the tweaking. Removed the something like 20 repos in Yast, issued the command shown and populated the list with the ones below it: rm /etc/zypp/repos.d/* zypper ar --refresh http://cdn.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/ALP:/Experimental:/Slowroll/… base-oss zypper ar --refresh http://cdn.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/ALP:/Experimental:/Slowroll/… base-non-oss zypper ar --refresh -p 80 http://cdn.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/ALP:/Experimental:/Slowroll/… update zypper ar --refresh --disable http://cdn.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/ALP:/Experimental:/Slowroll/… base-src-oss zypper ar --refresh http://codecs.opensuse.org/openh264/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/ h264 zypper ar --refresh -p 70 http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/openSUSE_Slowroll/Essentials/ packman Then issued a zypper dup. There was a lot of "chose one of the following" but in the end it coughed up a 9000 package proposal which I declided only because of my presently limping internet connection. My son is bringing me a TW iso, I might do an upgrade with that before trying again.

Hello, I made yesterday several attenpts of use of duperemove and compsize. I had to let the computer run all night but this morning I found the computer powered off. It's a laptop and the battery is still full (and of course it w as on AC). two questions: I don't see my previous commands in history.
