[opensuse] 15.2 zypper up NEW package virtualbox-guest-x11 - Why? I don't want it... I build guest modules

All, For my 15.2 guests, I use Oracles virtualbox (currently testbuilds) I build my own modules for guest additions. I explicitly removed virtualbox-guest-x11 because I don't want the conflicting guest modules. DKMS rebuilds the modules just fine on kernel update with the vboxadd.service enabled. Now, for some reason, when I attempt zypper up I get: The following NEW package is going to be installed: virtualbox-guest-x11 I know I can just put a lock or exclusion of some type on it -- but why is it trying to install itself as a new package? I've been getting errors like this for a while now. An I alone in this? Anyone else? [opensuse] Leap 15.2: grub2 patch openSUSE-2020-1282 made my system unbootable

Hi all, was I the only one having issues with openSUSE-2020-1282 (the grub2 patch) that was rolled out yesterday? After installing it I couldn't boot to linux anymore, the error was something about being unable to read the kernel and ram disk. grub2-mkconfig didn't help, only rolling back to the grub version before the patch did. Hello, On my main laptop, I find the cpu is getting hot very fast My desk is climatized, temperature is not cold but not hot either (around 27°C) at rest the cpu temp is around 60° a simple copy from a disk to an other makes it go up to 85°C, and dmesg gives red warning cpu speed is reduced. [ 661.011117] CPU2: Core temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1) [ 661.011118] CPU3: Package temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1) [ sensors coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Package id 0: +60.0°C (high = +84.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 0: +59.0°C (high = +84.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) (...) the computer become completely unresponsive, impossible to switch desktop or applications, copy:> sensors coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Package id 0: +79.0°C (high = +84.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) the bottom of the computer can be opened, but it's not that easy (lot of just now I couldn't finish this mail before the copy (from caddy hdd to usb disk - system is on ssd). Smartctl shows disks are fully ok I *can* try to remove dust :-). [opensuse] Getting rid of all traces of python2?

Hi, is it possible by now to uninstall python2 and **not** break half of one's system? Leap 15.2 here... and a "zypper rm -u python-base" would wipe out several desktop apps that I use... [opensuse] handbrake segfault

Hello, I use handbrake-cli routinely on 15.1, but I want to use an other computer for long tasks. I have two other ones, one with same 15.1 as main, the other with 15.2. The two of them brake the hand :-(, with *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in src/ifo_read.c:1678 *** *** for c_adt->cell_adr_table[i].start_sector < c_adt->cell_adr_table[i].last_sector *** and dmesg says: [ 452.441469] HandBrakeCLI[8203]: segfault at 10 ip 000055be6047bc11 sp 00007f26460e5b20 error 4 in HandBrakeCLI[55be60404000+133000] (reapeted) dvd reads perfectly in vlc and are self made ones, of course without any DRM idea? m ay be some lib is missing? [opensuse] plasma and display

Hello, I use since 2017 a trick to have a full hd screen (1920x1080) on a hd (large, 1366x728 on 15.6") display. On Intel driver it works perfectly in 15.1 plasma. I just did a fresh install of 15.2. This don't work anymore correctly on kde/plasma, not at all in wayland. This last way may be normal, the display identification seems to have changed. I want to say first than all this shouldn't be necessary if only the kde setup allowed to have *smaller* display in it's config, when it allows only *bigger* display. my goal is only to have less vasted place from any decoration... It works perfectly with icewm and xfce, so I could live with it like this, but I really like all the kde setups :-) To get this goal, I run xrandr, crating first a 1920x1080 definition, creating a VIRTUAL1 (or 2) screen, them making VIRTUAL fit the LCD screen. script is as shown: xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode VIRTUAL1 1920x1080_60.00 xrandr --fb 1920x1080_60.00 --dpi 96 --output eDP1 --pos 0x0 --scale-from 1920x1080 --same-as VIRTUAL1 xrandr --output HDMI2 --pos 1920x0 last line only needed in 15.2/xfce. [opensuse] Enabling videos

Though some videos play fine (in Firefox v.79.0), e.g., youtube things, a lot of others don't. All videos played in my previously installed suse without tinkering. But since the new install, many don't play at all. Commonly the video's audio will play, but the screen will be black. In FF I enabled "Play DRM Content", but that didn't change anything, even after restarting FF. So I'm assuming I need to install some additional packages.
