[opensuse] hosting defaults - debug php

Hello I try to make a server with 42.2. I would like to work like most applications man file say, that is ftp to my personal account and configure there (as in shared web) but it never works. vsftpd churns about account permissions and script stop unexpectively I may get around vsftp, but how can I debug a php script? Dear listmembers, dear openSUSE - maintainers, I maintain about 5 to 6 PC running (openSUSE) linux. My own, my sisters my friends ... Currently most of them are running with leap. During the last month I had to reinstall _all_ of them. All with broken / inconsitent / strange behaving root Btrfs file systems. After 25 years of working with linux I'd consider myself kind of experienced what regards linux problems. And, if that had had happened once I would have said it has been my fault. I do not think so any more. I consider Btrfs instable and inappropriate for public usage. I'd go further and would like to ask, *why* this is set as the default root fs when installing. This is totally inunderstandable to me after my experiences. I never ever experienced any bit of advantage in comparison with ext4. But I experienced nights of work - just to restore a state that had had existed a few days before. So, please, think it over: *take Btrfs out as default!* Use stable and well known systems as the foundation of public systems. Changing things only to change something is leading nowhere. Besides, if there is a kind soul that can explain what was the reason for making Btrfs the default I would highly appreciate. I cannot see any change besides significantly improved stability when going back to ext4. The latter being the most important thing IMHO. [opensuse] HP Printer not working

HP Laserjet Pro P1109W Looks like its not in the database for 10.0 or 11.4 and no PPD file to download. No online information regarding emulations either. My old Epson Action Laser 1500 worked in emulation mode until it died. I have another old HP All in one which works only as a printer now no scan or copy. I had an HP Laserjet 1100A working until it died. So whats up with this one its an 1100 series??? I'm looking at openSUSE Bugzilla, and as usual trying to navigate its bewildering interface and unnerving lexicon is having the effect of making me want to go and adopt the foetus position hiding inside a cave. At one point I clicked a link to 'Reports' and found myself inside a place called the Kitchen. I really don't want to discover the other labyrinthine quarters of this dungeon, I just want to perform one simple function: - show all the bugs I previously commented on or contributed to But this task seems to be too simplistic to be able to achieve here. I wanted to revisit a bug I commented on a week or so ago but I can only seem to pull up one or two bugs I created myself (and there's no trace of many others I've contributed to over the years). If I go into Search -> Advanced Search, search by People, select all types, i.e. Commenter, enter my username, I get a message 'Zarro Boogs found'. There's no known logical firing of neurones in my brain that can lead me to the holy grail here. [opensuse] handbrake 1.0.3 for opensuse (13.2 or ??)?

I notice that handbrake seems to only be available for Ubuntu?? Or ... is there a single rpm or repo to install to run handbrake 1.0.3 on opensuse? [opensuse] Black screen bug: dual graphics, Leap 42.2 Mesa and bumblebee updates (libglvnd0)

This morning I updated my system. There were a lot of Mesa updates. As the result my SDDM display manager started with a black screen. Also KDE Plasma did not work. In /var/log/Xorg.0.log I found this: [ 962.076] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering [ 962.093] (EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib64/dri/swrast_dri.so failed (/usr/lib64/dri/swrast_dri.so: undefined symbol: _glapi_tls_Dispatch) [ 962.093] (EE) GLX: could not load software renderer It took my hours to find the reason. At first I tried to revert the relevant packages (Mesa, Xorg, ...) to Leap 42.2 without updates. This did not help. Because of the Nvidia-libglvnd discussion I took a look at package libglvnd0. It comes from these repositories: https://software.opensuse.org/package/libglvnd0 Finally the deinstallation of package libglvnd0 helped to get OpenGL, SDDM/KDE Plasma etc. working again. libglvnd0 itself was not updated recently. But it's probably uncompatible with the latest Mesa updates. [opensuse] icmp (ping) forwarding

Hello, I'm still on the way of setting up a web/mail server on my own lan. so my server is behind a dsl modem I just noticed that the modem do not answer to icmp (ping). So I wonder what is the best way to do: * let it like this. [opensuse] Samba member server possible with Windows 2016 AD domain

Does anyone know if Tumbleweed or LEAP (42.2) can be added as a member server to a Windows 2016 domain using SAMBA? I have a setup with some Tumbleweed and OSS boxes acting as member servers using Samba in a windows 2008R2 domain. I need to see if the ActiveDirectory domain can be upgraded and set to windows functional level of windows 2016 without breaking Samba. [opensuse] Enterprise vault e-mail

Our company uses enterprise vault to archive old e-mails. I have been trying to access these on Linux, but have not found a solution. I use the outlook OWA interface in FireFox (sigh). When I access an archived message, FireFox offers to let me save it (an a .msg file). I have done so, thinking it may be some standard format. Seems not. Does anyone know how to access these files in FireFox? In fact, I really would like to access them as any other OWA e-mail. But that seems not how this has been done. Seems odd to me.
