[opensuse] LXQt installation cannot mount luks volumes

So, I've finally decided to upgrade from 42.1 to 42.2, and to try LXQt (used LXDE on that machine previously). Everything went fine, but then I could not get LXQt to mount encrypted volumes. Couple of seconds after I turn on external hard drive, the window border appears without a content and just hangs on my desktop. Looking at some logs it showed me that secret service DBus was not found, or something along those lines. I tried installing libsecret and gnome-keyring one by one and then both at the same time, could not fix it. The field for adding an identity in knode is greyed out. I somehow managed to fix this in August, but I simply cannot remember what I did ... [opensuse] Trouble formatting a linux partition

Hello, Hope someone can shine some light on the problem I'm having. I've formatted several drives in the past and have not seen this problem. I'm trying to use a 500G drive which was a linux system with swap. I fdisk to delete all the old partitions and created one single partition. One strange thing is the partition starts at 2048. Had no choice. =========== The following is from fdisk Disk /dev/sdc: 465.8 GiB, 500107862016 bytes, 976773168 sectors Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disklabel type: gpt Disk identifier: 0x000af975 Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type /dev/sdc1 2048 976773167 976771120 465.8G 83 Linux ============= Try to format it with fsck.ext2 yields: e2fsck 1.43.3 (04-Sep-2016) ext2fs_open2: Bad magic number in super-block fsck.ext2: Superblock invalid, trying backup blocks... fsck.ext2: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sdc1 The superblock could not be read or does not describe a valid ext2/ext3/ext4 filesystem. [opensuse] Raid 1 + Encrypted Btrfs

Hi, I have spent some time now trying to set up my notebook with a software raid 1 built from 2 SSDs and encrypted btrfs and so far failed miserably. Sseems the installer doesn't support this combination at all. What i tried: All those attempts have been tried with and without a separate unencrypted /boot and /boot/efi. I only would need encrypted root and home, boot can be unencrpyted if needed. 1) Raid + Encrypted Btrfs When creating btrfs on a raid device, the encryption checkbox is disabled, while it's available for other filesystems. 2) Raid + Encrypted LVM While creating "normal" LVM Partitions has a encryption checkbox, the installer directly uses raid devices in the LVM creation interface, encryption option nowhere to be seen. 3) Raid + Manual cryptsetup I created a raid 1 and did a manual cryptsetup on it. The installer detects the encrypted raid and asks for a password. From there on the installer seems to work as expected. Can create a LVM on the encrypted raid (also the installer shows correcty that it's encrypted), i can create my needed filesystems and the installer completes without errors. Sadly the installed system fails to boot. At this point i've given up and haven't investigated further. I would know how to do all necessary stuff manually i probably manage to make everything boot up, but i don't want to intervene with standard setup too much, as this probably will cause problems with future upgrades / updates. Did i miss something or is it really impossible to combine raid + btrfs+ encryption at the current state of the installer? [opensuse] Mouse hints (almost) unreadable

Hi, On my Leap 42.1 system I have some applications where the mouse hints (when you hover the mouse cursor over a menu or button) are almost unreadable (white text on very light grey background). Is this fixable ? I tried _some_ things with system-configuration, but didn't find a solution. I don't remember what I did. I gave up because I don't use XSane that much. But now I discoverd that Kicad also has that problem, so I thought I would ask. [opensuse] PCIe SATA card with Marvell 88sx7042 chip no longer working

Hello, I have 4-port PCIe SATA cards with Marvell 88sx7042 chip. Those cards worked for several years on an older AMD box with 12.X opensuse. Now I have upgraded to an Intel MB Z170-A an Opensuse Leap. With this new setup, those cards won't worl anymore. Sometimes, the system hangs during the boot process. Sometimes, the system boots, but when a disk is conntected to one of the card's ports (they are hot-pluggable), the detection of the disk won't work correctly. [opensuse] display and monitor settings

I have connected a television via svideo, and I went into kde settings and selected display and monitor. In there I was able to configure the TV display and get it working. (There was a pictorial display showing the laptop display and s-video display. I was able to move them around, change resolutions and scaling etc). However later when I went back into the same settings, I no longer seeing what I saw before, I am just seeing screen locker and screen locker type. I am bewildered. [opensuse] Redshift Gnome Extension - How Do I Apply a Patch File?

Since Redshift isn't supposed to work on Wayland, I'm trying to figure out how to install this extension: https://github.com/benzea/gnome-shell-extension-redshift I created the zip file in the instructions and used Tweak Tool to install it, but I've never used a .patch file before and I have no idea what to do with it. Some searching shows using a "patch" program to run it which I've installed, but I'm having trouble following what to do. I think I have to use "/usr/share/gnome-settings-daemon" (sans quotes) as one of the arguments, along with the .patch file? Reading the bugzilla, the whole thing seems a bit hacky but I rather miss the color calibration.
