[opensuse] Timeouts with SuSE repos? Missing keys?

I am having 2 problems: 1) the keys seem to be expired: " Key: E3A5C360307E3D54 Name: SuSE Package Signing Key <build(a)suse.de> Finger Print: 4E98E67519D98DC7362A5990E3A5C360307E3D54 Created: 04/05/10 Expires: 03/05/14 (The key is expired.)" 2) the SuSE repos lag (my internet connection is fine though): "[...] Timeout exceeded when accessing 'http://download.opensuse.org/debug/update/13.1-non-oss/repodata/repomd.xml'. The Micro Focus group consists of two business units. "Micro Focus" (consisting of the Micro Focus, Novell, NetIQ, Attachmate, Borland brands - ) and SUSE (consisting of SUSE). While of course we happily share some common resources between these two business units, the nature of SUSE's business is very different than the rest of Micro Focus (SUSE provides Subscription services ontop of Open Source products compared to Micro Focus providing traditional software licenses and maintenance on top of mostly Closed Source products) and so SUSE's own Sales, Support, Training & Marketing teams are all growing in addition to everything else which is growing (ps. we're hiring.. https://jobs.suse.com ) So please, don't expect too much in regards to SUSE marketing from Novell/Micro Focus - we're one happy family, but the nature of the relation has changed dramatically in the last 5 years. SUSE Marketing significantly contribute to openSUSE, we regularly attend events together and swap and share merchandise and more for mutual benefit. For an example you can see below. In addition to all that, openSUSE is, as it always has been, an independent project able of setting its own destiny. We expend large amounts of the money provided by SUSE & other sponsors on openSUSE merchandise which we distribute internationally, quite often at significant cost. SUSE also contribute a dedicated openSUSE Marketing Expert to help coordinate such openSUSE-specific marketing efforts - his name is Douglas DeMaio and you can contact him at ddemaio(a)suse.com . Much of our marketing efforts are discussed on the opensuse-marketing(a)opensuse.org mailinglist, that is what it is there for. I was in Toronto all of last week at LinuxCon, representing SUSE & openSUSE at our joint booth on the floor of LinuxCon. I personally gave away hundreds of openSUSE branded USB sticks, each of which were 8GB in size. And stickers, and metal openSUSE pins, and more stickers. All of which were arranged through Douglas. I would have taken more, such as the awesome Tumbleweed and Leap T-shirts we have these days, but our stock was a little low because he was at Frosscon at the same time in Germany giving them away ;) And we'll be at LinuxCon Europe in October doing it all again before SUSEcon in November, and probably more if people volunteer to represent us at events - now you know where to do so :) Hope this clears things up for you and sets your expectations in the right direction. [opensuse] Firefox locked in full screen mode

Realized yesterday that Firefox is locked in full-screen mode and have not been able to leave that mode. I've tried various key combinations without luck. I've also tried renaming the ~/.mozilla profile forcing a new profile which is also locked in full-screen mode. I've also tried deleting and then re-loading FF from installation media with no change. The problem is that there is no longer a visible titlebar and my system trays (icon bars?) are not visible System info: OS 13.1 Linux desktop-1 3.11.6-4-default, KDE 4.11.2 24 GB ram, Graphics: GeForce GTX960/PCIe w/Nvidia driver 361.42 Tried but didn't like newer versions of OS and of FF. Any suggestions about where to find the location for screen-mode settings or other things to try would be greatly appreciated (I'll name my cats first born after you, ha-ha). [opensuse] Unlock Login Keyring + vivaldi

HI In the last few days i've been getting this pop-up which requests i enter a password to unlock my login keyring when i load vivaldi. I tried to load another browser while the popup is showing to search out the solution but the keyboard is locked to this popup, i couldn't even type kwrite via the application menu to run kwrite. The keyboard is released once i cancel the popup. I can't find any setting in vivaldi that refers to a keyring option. Any ideas? I would have thought the popup would refer to kwallet. [opensuse] Giving priority to Amarok

Good evening Sometimes, when I'm doing something disk- or possibly CPU-intensive (big Steam downloads seem to be a major culprit), music I'm listening to in Amarok will pause for a second or two. This is pretty irritating and what I want to do is tell my PC that Amarok should always have priority so that it doesn't happen. I have a couple of questions around this: 1. Should I use renice for this, and if so, how do I ensure that Amarok always has the new niceness that I set? 2. Is it sufficient to renice only Amarok, or are there associated processes such as pulseaudio that need to be similarly reniced? Many thanks in advance for any advice. Kind regards, Huw

[opensuse] Repair of XFS fails

I'm slowly working my way though putting my DVDs on to disk and hence USB so I can watch them on my tablet. For the most part I use handbrake. Nice UI. Some DVDs, though, handbrake doesn't seem to want to deal with. Some DVDs take it like that; I don't now why. I was stuck in a recent movie, "Jurassic World". it a 2hr, 5 min movie. Handbrake scans it and then ... nothing. So I turn to VLC, which ... well it play the menu. I set VLC to rip the mive. it rips that one part, the menu, over and over and over. It never modes past it. So I break out of VLC and delete the 3.6M, just grown to 3.7 ... 3.8 ov that over-and-over but not the main movie. I try VLC again but with a starting point of "1" rather than "0". It hangs. It hangs the whole machine. Rebook I get an error. Its the mounted ~/MyMovies, which is an XFS. Oh, <deleted>!. There goes this mornings work. I try xfs_repair with a few options such as verbose, progressively more aggressive about it. Xfs_repair says its all OK. Mounting says: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/vgmain-MyMovies, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so. That's a pretty standard message. The dmesg|tail says [ 4475.435209] XFS (dm-20): Mounting V5 Filesystem [ 4475.489498] XFS (dm-20): Corruption warning: Metadata has LSN (1:5500) ahead of current LSN (1:2). Please unmount and run xfs_repair (>= v4.3) to resolve. [ 4475.489503] XFS (dm-20): log mount/recovery failed: error -22 [ 4475.489537] XFS (dm-20): log mount failed Iterating xfs_repair & mount is of no joy. I'd chose XFS on advice here to deal with big files, aka movies. I'm not happy with the result I've ended up with. [opensuse] Authentication failed

On two 13.1 systems, I'm getting error messages popping up: "Authorization failed Failed to check for authentication: GDBus.Error.org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.Error.Failed: Action org.freedesktop.packagekit.system-sources-refresh is not registered. These errors started today and I have no idea where they're coming from. There's nothing listed in Yast Software Repositories that matches this. [opensuse] "IPv4: martian source" Error Messages in Journal

When connected to a VPN via OpenVPN, I am getting these messages when viewing journalctl, and they occur every few minutes: Aug 21 19:01:24 linux-6uhj kernel: IPv4: martian source 192.168.1.5 from 1.1.1.1, on dev enp7s0 Aug 21 19:01:24 linux-6uhj kernel: ll header: 00000000: ff ff ff ff ff ff b8 a3 86 57 78 f5 08 06 .........Wx... I have tried researching on Google what IPv4: martian source means and have not came up with much information, besides not to turn off Marian Source logging because if you ever do get attacked you want it on. How would I go about figuring out what these errors mean and how to stop them? They don't seem to happen when not connected to the VPN. [opensuse] kwrite: how to easily save txt file to remote server using dolphon/fish

Hi, for small changes I used to open the directory on my webserver with dolphin/fish, then open the file with kwrite, add the changes, save, done. But now "save file" or ctrl-s does nothing, except removing the * (signal that file was changed) from the window title, although it actually wasn't saved. Only when I close kwrite it asks me if I want to upload the changes. I never had this strange behavior on 13.2. Is that one of the new "backwards-features" of leap/kde5 and can one generally not easily use local kwrite for remote files anymore? Just as it lost it's ability of spell checking? Or can I change a setting somewhere so that kwrite behaves normal again? Thanks for hints! Daniel <rant> (Sorry for the annoyed tone.
