All, Am I at the right place or has bugzilla.novell been hijacked? I'm at http://support.novell.com/additional/bugreport.html?ref=h and this form is crap. This isn't even a place for release or component input. I don't mean to rant, but this looks more like a generic trouble ticket entry form rather than a software bug report. [opensuse] kde start submenu hangs

Hello: This has been a long standing issue but I didn't deal with it until now. I don't know if it is related to my other problem with right clicking. This occurs in openSUSE 13.1 with KDE3. When I navigate in the kicker's main menu to Office/Document Viewer submenu the system hangs. I found the kicker is the culprit, it uses 100% CPU. When I use kde menu editor (kmenuedit) and try to open Office/Document Viewer menu, the system also hangs. In this case kmenuedit uses 100% CPU. How could I trace why the menu cannot be opened and causes hangup? I guess there can be some problem with .menu, .desktop or .directory files which build up the xdg menu system, bit how to find which one is the culprit? [opensuse] Leap 42.1 - disconnected NFS connection hangs boot - Forever...

All, A friend had a leap laptop that was stuck trying to boot and couldn't figure out why. Just 3-dots in a chevron toggling back and forth endlessly. He said it used to work and he liked the interface, but couldn't figure out why. Cancelling the login graphics (not something the 1st time user was aware of) disclosed the problem -- activating NFS (34m 58 sec no-limit) WTF? 'no-limit'??? This poor guy had been trying to boot his laptop for the past day and a half. He said he had to pull the batter out to shut it down because he couldn't reboot and when he would try to boot again it would just get stuck.... I'm sure there was an easier way to fix the issue, but I just edited the grub2 kernel boot line to boot to run-level 1 equivalent, chrooted the system under /mnt, disabled NFS with systemctl and rebooted. This time the laptop hung at the same spot with: -- activating NFS_B (31 sec 1:36) which thankfully timed out at 1:36 and completed the boot. Obviously what happened is the guy had previously connected to a NAS box via NFS and the boot was attempting to reconnect, but what caused the timeout of 'no-limit' to be set for NFS, and why did disabling NFS in systemd cause NFS_B to attempt connection?? Is the 'no-limit' something that must be user set, or is this some default in leap? Let me know your thoughts and whether this should be filed as a bug (it probably should), I can't think of any situation where you should have an indefinite timeout on a service activated during boot??? -- David C. [opensuse] Reliable source for extra and home repository keys?

Is there a reliable source for verifying the PGP keys for extra and home repositories of the openSUSE build service? Not all keys can be found in the public key servers (like https://sks-keyservers.net/i/) Where else can I find them all? [opensuse] No SANE devices found

I have SuSE 13.2 and try to install Brother DCP-7040 as a scanner (before I had installed it as a printer, with some difficulties, but eventually with success). Now, since YaST Scanner does not support my Brother DCP-7040, I downloaded two rpm's from http://support.brother.com/: - brscan3-0.2.13-1.i386.rpm (for 32 bit) and - brscan3-0.2.13-1.x86_64.rpm (for 64 bit). At first, I successfully installed the 32 bit version invoking "rpm -ihv --nodeps brscan3-0.2.13-1.i386.rpm". But when I invoked /usr/bin/scanimage, I got the error message: *scanimage: no SANE devices found* So, I removed the installation and tried the 64 bit version. But then, at invoking /usr/bin/scanimage, I got the same error message. Now, I have two questions: Is /usr/bin/scanimage the correct program to be invoked for scanning? And if so, how can I create the missing SANE devices? Thank you in advance! [opensuse] windows 8.1 - openSUSE 13.2 dual boot

Hello: I have a computer with installed Windows 8.1. I have installed openSUSE 13.2 on this computer but unfortunately I did not look into the procedure beforehand supposing that openSUSE takes care of dual booting and installs a working boot manager. And it did, it installed a working boot manager which worked until I booted Windows 8.1. After that the openSUSE boot manager disappeared and the computer just boots directly Windows 8.1. Then I looked into this and found that in Windows I have to run bcdedit with the path pointing to openSUE boot manager file: bcdedit /set {bootmgr} "path\EFI\opensuse\shimx64.efi or bcdedit /set {bootmgr} "path\EFI\opensuse\grubx64.efi But when I mount the EFI partition in windows it does not have either of these files. What it has is a file EFI\opensuse\X with 0 byte size. So it's probably not the correct file. How could I restore openSUSE boot manager (grub2) without reinstalling openSUSE? Possibly by booting into openSUSE 13.2 and make the corrections in it. (Previous openSUSE install media had an option "boot installed system" which found and booted installed openSUSE OSs into graphical mode but I can't find such an option in 13.2 install DVD). One more thing: when I installed openSUSE I used expert partitioning and I did not set mount point /boot/EFI to /dev/sda2 (EFI partition).
