[opensuse] Question Leap: fonts and colours

I have Leap 42 installed as a test system on the same computer as openSUSE 13.2 -- but as separate booting systems. I am also using the very latest versions of Thunderbird and Firefox on Leap and 13.2 -- but the important part to the question I am asking here is that I am using, thru the use of symlinks, the *same* '/.mozilla' and '/.thunderbird' in both Leap and 13.2. And here is the problem followed by the question: in 13.2 I have selected the fonts I like to be used in both TB and FF as well as the background colours and font colours -- however, in both I am allowing fonts used by the originating source to be used for displaying the text. (Trying to explain this is getting hairy but I hope that you are getting the picture :-( ). when I use both Firefox and Thunderbird in Leap the font and the colour chosen in 13.2 are ignored even though the same /.mozilla and /.thunderbird are being used. I have also selected the same colours and fonts in the System Settings (Startup>System Settings>whatever). Why am I getting a different result when using Leap to what I get in 13.2? Anyone have a suggestion, or two, please? BTW, evern though I haven't upgraded a copy of TW to the latest, I am getting the same results as in Leap: different fonts and colour schemes. [opensuse] command to check all packages

Is there a command that I can use to check all installed packages on my system to see if any are installed from a particular repository? I just got KDE5 back after messing with extras, applications, framework5, qt5, and wolfi's repository. I have been doing so much back and forth with zypper in and zypper dup from the different repos that I really don't know what on my system is installed from what. But my system is working now, and so I want to just check everything and see what repositories I have that are really not being used and then delete them. [opensuse] darktable update

42.1 Hi and TIA because we really don't know how to ask this question. We tried Darktable 2 from https://software.opensuse.org/package/darktable graphics repository. We could go back to 1.6 by removing 2, removing the repository and then reinstalling. I'm sure there's a more elegant way, but anyway... Question: one day I suppose after an update, 2 will become the norm. Will it still be possible to choose 1.6 when that happens? [opensuse] Format disk with 13.2 btrfs file system

Please give me the commands, probably to mkfs.btrfs, that allows me to generate the file system that the distribution media provides. I have tried to use the distribution media, but keep having trouble with a clean build on a USB drive. [opensuse] mounting read only as root

Hello, I often have to use "rsync --delete" to mirror two very large archives usb disks. for safety reason, I would like to mount the source read only. usually I just mount disks in dolphin and use rsync from dolphin xterm. But like this disks are mounted rw is there a simple way to mount a disk ro as user? in Dolphin, the action seems to be done by kde-open5, but options do not show ro options] urls... [opensuse] gnuplot -p plotfile.plt (no zoom, scale, etc.) no communication with persistent window??

All, I have always create plot files for running gnuplot, instead of running from within gnuplot. e.g.: $ gnuplot -p plotveloc.plt where plotveloc.plt contains plot \ "vmag.txt" using 1:3 title 'velocity y' instead of running from the gnuplot> prompt, e.g.: $ gnuplot gnuplot> plot "vmag.txt" using 1:3 title 'velocity y' gnuplot> q $ I have always had the ability to zoom, scale, toggle-ruler, etc. in the persistent window. Now for some reason, it is like all communication with gnuplot is gone when using a persistent window. It is fine when running from the 'gnuplot>' prompt. Has anyone else seen this? Any fix? What to check? This is with the standard Version 4.6 patchlevel 3 from the OSS repo (maybe update). -- David C. [opensuse] Firefox Private Browsing

I recently updated to v43.0.4 on 13.2/x64. I decided to enable all private browsing in tabs & windows with it to see how it works. However, when I open a new Private Window, it now opens my saved homepage, which is an email service. And, instead of just showing a login, it actually logs me in. I thought that the Private Browsing was supposed to sandbox all tabs/windows. No history is being recorded, but the fact that my login is still being loaded leads me to believe that I'm not being protected very well. [opensuse] using a local repo mirror plus adding extra repositories during installation ?

Last year I created a local mirror as a way of avoiding the IPv6 mirror issue. When I install, I just point to this with install=http://local.mirror. However, when I select to add extra repos during installation, i.e. the update repos, these are not taken from the local mirror, so I'm back to the ipv6 issue. I was just wondering if anyone else had encountered this and maybe already found a way around it? [opensuse] openSUSE-SU-2016:0145-1: critical: openssh - why patch OpenSSH_6.2p2 and not install OpenSSH_7.1p2?

All, Just a curiosity. Why patch OpenSSH_6.2p2 in a critical update instead of updating to OpenSSH_7.1p2? There are not conflicts between the versions or issues with backwards compatibility. So where is the logic for patching an old version when you could simply package the new version as an update? -- David C.
