[opensuse] who uses my WLAN? wireshark question

Hello, As my internet sometimes is very slow I opened 192.168.1.1 (with that movistar/Spain specific page) that showed me that besides of my eth0-wired computer there are 4 other WLAN-IPs, although I, for the moment, do not have switched on any wireless device. I don't know if I'm wrong, but because of this I think somebody else is using my WLAN and I'd like to find out about it. After googling I installed wireshark (with Yast), but now I am stuck. The found web pages say I have to use "monitor mode", but the list of interfaces shows "n/a" for all the interfaces in the "monitor mode"-column. Is there a more or less simple way to find out if there are others using my WLAN - even for somebody who has not the slightest idea of how networks work? Thanks for hints! I thought I would give slack a try to see what all the buzz is about. They have .debs for Ubuntu. So I made an RPM with alien. As long as I keep track of the current permissions and set them back, there should be no problem, right? The other thing is, why are directories like /etc conflicting with both filesystem-12.3-9.1.1.i586 and mdadm-3.2.6-3.4.1.i586? I do not think either had a conflict when they were installed. Is it that they both agree with the permissions on /etc (and match the system's idea about this), and that slack may be up to something different? Maybe Ubuntu has different permissions for these directories? Needless to say, I have held off installing this alien RPM. (BTW, this is on a different system than the one I have recently posted RPM issues about. This system is a 12.3 system that is working fine. [opensuse] force changing ssid

Hi We have a series of rooms with wifi. If we walk from one room to the next, a phone or an ipad will use the wifi in the new room. An opensuse 13.2 laptop doesn't do that. You connect to room one and you stay with room one all day unless you walk out of range or reboot. Is there a way we can make the opensuse change as per the phones? We think the relevant part is NetworkManager Applet 0.9.10.0 but don't know where to start. [opensuse] How to start a program (wicd) at boot

Hello all, I'm trying to connect at work to a WiFi controlled by a Windows WPA2-Enterprise setup. I've put back the original HD that has a Windows 10 install on it and had no problem connecting. Network manager (13.2) does see the network and let me enter username and password, but no success as to a connection (always comes back asking for the password). I've googles a lot, this sort of problem allready have been encoutered (and solved) on other distributions. Until now I could not solve it on openSUSE. So I decided to remove NM and go back to wicd. One Click Install fails because I don't have Firefox, but I managed to install from rpms. Wicd does work, but it asks for the root password and regularely fails on start. Mor googling told me I should start wicd on boot, but all the instructions are outdated and don't works (chkconfig on 12.3 but does not seem to be there anymore, some hints about systemd and new commands but nothing works either. I'm wondering if I should install 13.1 instead - or look for another distribution... I have the most recent snapshot of tumbleweed installed. However it does not accept updates. When I put in the address, the repo is accepted without complain (link form the webpage of tubleweed. But when I try to do an update: no update repo defined. Does somebody else have a broken tumbleweed update funktion?
