Hi When starting gmm I get a login window OK but then it gives a message: Couldn't connect to Google Play Check your Internet connection and try again The only other option is a Retry button which doesn't help much as I get the same error. Launching at the cli doesn't give any messages. I can upload files and work normally in a brower. [opensuse] Nvidia driver fails after upgrade 13.1 to 13.2 KDE

Hello, I recently upgraded my "testing" (that I use as the production system once it is stable) system from 13.1 to 13.2 online (not via DVD). I removed all repositories except oss and non-oss and changed to the newer versions. The upgrade seemed to go flawlessly, with no error messages. However, the system now only has the vesa driver working (I can get a low resolution desktop). I installed the nvidia drivers from the suse repos, but somehow the wrong drivers were installed (the g03 and g04 series). I have previously used the g02 series with multiple suse KDE installations on this laptop without any issues. I removed the incorrect drivers and reinstalled the correct ones (three rpm's) a number of times and tried a number of fixes suggested in the SDB without success. I am attaching parts of the xor.log and messages logs which seem to show that there was a mismatch in the expected driver 304.125 (which is what I have installed) and what the "client" is looking for (340.65). I I am visually impaired and have difficulty looking through logs, so I don't know hot to be more precise. It looks to me like the incorrect installation of the g03 or g04 series left something incorrect in place that prevents the loading of the now correctly installed kernel module, is that correct? Any Ideas on how to proceed other than re-installing 13.2? I need the nvidia driver, nouveau does not work well enough for a dual monitor setup I use. Hey, I am having trouble reinstalling Grub2. I am in a live session of Kubuntu. I used it to backup my LVM volumes, and then to recreate them using thin volumes. I've done this two times before without thin-provisioned volumes and never got a problem. Those 4.1.0 images are from Kubuntu, they mess up the grub configuration but that is not the issue now. Removing the 4.1.0 also doesn't change the errors. I have regenerated also using mkinitrd. The grub2-probe is referencing blkids that don't exist. Even the LVM container ID is completely incorrect. /dev/mapper/sda6_crypt: UUID="dl5QvM-u91H-fJ52-ob75-E3Ld-5vGT-gTKyD3" TYPE="LVM2_member" I'm now trying to manually edit the existing grub.cfg and getting rid of all UUID references. If the config file is not faulty it should boot all my systems. I had trouble generating a correct grub.cfg anyway. The presence of the Kubuntu files caused the generator to go haywire. All the generated entries were incorrect, except for the one that said "Kubuntu ....." which booted OpenSUSE using the OpenSUSE kernel/initrd and filesystem. grub2-install finished correctly. [opensuse] cron and storebackup setup

Hi Everyone, It has been some time since I have been watching the list - my life got really busy over the past year and only now I think I will be coming back to read the emails more frequently. I have a little problem I hope someone can help with. I run storebackup dailyon my 13.2 box that I just got back up and running, having it set up to run in /etc/cron.daily, along with the other programs that are in there. The problem is, storebackup ends up taking a lot of resources while it is doing the backup, and can slow down the pc enough to be kind of annoying. So I would like to run it in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, electricity is really expensive here, and I don't want to run my computer all night long or I will build up a pretty big energy bill. So I was thinking, maybe I can add the line pm-suspend to the script that runs storebackup, and then set the cron.daily time to go at 1 am, or something like that. The idea being, I will leave my computer on when I goto bed, then in the middle of the night it will run the storebackup job, and when it is done, it will suspend to ram and save my energy bill. But then I am thinking, what if it finishes running storebackup before running the other cron jobs, then goes to suspend, and they don't get run? Will there be a problem if thesystem is put in suspend to ram mode while another cron job is in the middle of running? [opensuse] anyone know how to setup Win-Lin VPNs?

My parents are having problems w/their computers and I'm hoping I can use the remote desktop feature in Win7 to correct their issues (some of the 3rd party apps that route through 3rd party servers (Teamview) are just so SLOW.... But I was thinking if I can setup a vpn on linux and she can install VPN SW on Windows... then I should be able to get a direct connect. She is able to ping my linux server, but that's all I know as far as connectivity goes. I've found some openvpn SW for Windows and this setup page: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:OpenVPN_Installation_and_Setup for linux... but am not clear on how to make the win side connect as a network connection (not to mention windows routing is such a pain)... I got down to past building the DH key... but then they talk about client config -- and I realize at that point it sounds like it is for another linux box... ??? I'm a bit -familiar w/iptables -- and have setup masquerading and using the linux box for local traffic forwarding/connecting... [opensuse] Firefox using tons of memory?

Out of curiosity, is there any way to tell why Firefox is eating up tons of memory, when it's only been running for a few hours, and just has a couple of tabs open? [opensuse] ffmpeg and conversion accuracy

I just started experimenting with ffmpeg and was wondering if the sound quality is maintained during conversion. I converted an ogg file to mp3 and see the mp3 is smaller.
