[opensuse] LibreOffice and google-carlito-fonts

LibreOffice 4.4 requires google-carlito-fonts. That package is in the repos for LibreOffice 4.3 and LibreOffice Factory. But not the one for 4.4, I don't think I want to add the 4.3 or Factory repo to get the fonts package as that will surely cause other problems. I could add the M17N:fonts repo that also has the google-carlito-fonts package. But if that is the place to get the fonts, why are they also in some - but not all - LibreOffice repos? [opensuse] Disk i/o very unresponsive?

I do a lot of heavy USB-3 disk i/o, but today I'm throwing in a drive connected via eSata. This is with a laptop that I use all the time for disk i/o intensive tasks. I've got the equivalent of: dd if=/dev/eSata_drive of=/dev/USB3_drive bs=4kb going on. (I don't know what bs my app is actually using.) My throughput is around 38 MB/sec which is surprisingly slow, but not crazy slow. More surprising is the laptop otherwise acts almost frozen. I had done some work on another USB-3 drive. I issued a "umount" command to it about 15 minutes ago and it still hasn't unmounted. Or at least I don't think it has. I can't even use alt-F2 or contrl-alt-F2 to get back to the virtual console. I had also tried to log into virtual console 4. After 5 minutes it had not logged in. As it stands the only thing I can do is observe virtual console 3. I'm getting status updates and it claims my copy task will be done in 45 minutes or so. I hope so, I'd like to be able to use that PC again. [opensuse] SuSE Firewall: why is ssh on for external?

I just ignored the SuSE firewall as it worked in the past. There was nothing allowed for external connections. Recently I was looking at the settings in yast2 and realized that ssh ports were allowed for external connections. Since when is this setting included for 13.1? [opensuse] login problem on :0 console

Hello: This occurs in openSUSE 13.2 with KDE 4.14.3 and corresponding KDM login manager. If I login from a remote host through ssh and start vncserver on display :1, I can't login at the :0 console. The login process starts but drops me back to the login screen. How can I fix this? [opensuse] Bios update with openSUSE?

Looked into subject line and found that the only way would be Dos or Windos. Having a windows7 copy just and only for such things I had a look into the bios details. No luck. The problem of any distinct Bios owner I used the service of "eSupport.com ". It software really discovered the bios origin with ease. They found me an update and I started looking into the update process. The readme file gave details which included that a floppy should be used in the process. No floppy so I asked the so called technical service of the eSupport. Nonsense answer back that it most probably was an autoexec.bat file (wrong, was a run.bat) and no solution for something more of this time, a memory stick. run.bat has the following text: @ECHO OFF ECHO. ECHO This program will create the software diskette. ECHO. ECHO Press the CTRL+C key combination to terminate! ECHO. PAUSE ECHO. ECHO Please insert a blank diskette into the floppy drive! ECHO. [opensuse] Ripping DVDs

Hi All, I have tried ripping some of my DVDs to put them on my NAS and have found a small issue, when I use k9copy or VLC it only rips 40 mins of the film and cuts some scenes out. When I use K3b it crashes with an generic error and no log.
