[opensuse] tb filter doesn't show my messages to the list

13.2 Hi I have a filter: Match any of the following From, To, Cc or Bcc contains opensuse If I send a message or reply to the list, it does not show. All other messages filter fine. e.g. this message will not show either in the unfiltered nor filtered mailbox. What's wrong? [opensuse] trouble with getting windows 7 to print to cups - client-error-bad-request (client-error-bad-request)

I am, quite unusually, trying to get a Windows 7 laptop to use our CUPS server. The printer is shared with samba, it's installed fine etc., but when I try to print the test-page or a PDF document, it ends up queued with status "Print file was not accepted.". [opensuse] Intel instruction set for i7-4940 procesor

When I look at the gcc manual under the option -mtune for optimizing the generated code, it requests to know what type of processor you have. There are 3 listed under i7: corei7 corei7-avx core-avx-i The manual lists the instructions it expects to find incorporated into each architecture. But I cannot find on Intel where the instructions for the different processors are specified. The last time I did Intel, about 6 years ago, I recall this data being available. While I was with AMD Opterons things appear to have changed. I am looking for what subset of the following extensions are supported in the i7-4940, or in general for any other Intel processor. MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, AES, PCLMUL, FSGSBASE, RDRND and F16C Please let me know if this is the wrong list, with suggestions please. [opensuse] Slow ssh logins and dbus errors

OSS 13.2 system. The system is pretty much barebones, no GUI etc, just basic server install. SSH sessions take a long (~10secs) to complete. I notice following errors in the log: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for root from a.b.c.d port 41771 ssh2 sshd[15839]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0) dbus[21664]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.login1' unit='dbus-org.freedesktop.login1.service' dbus[21664]: [system] Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.login1': timed out sshd[15839]: pam_systemd(sshd:session): Failed to create session: Activation of org.freedesktop.login1 timed out DNS and other settings are all good and working. I find this topic all over the place on google but have found no working solution. Has anyone else seen this and know of a fix? Problem is some software will see a symlink and think it is not a real 'dir', and simply overwrite it. For example, if you were to untar an image that wanted to write into the "symlinked" directory you created, 'tar', would likely, by default, overwrite the symlink rather than following it. There are multiple programs that get fussy with symlinks just like there are a growing number of ones that get fussy about what permissions you put on your files. But as a real life example of a an installer overwriting symlinks -- cygwin puts a linux/unix like layer overwindows, and in doing so, they made the windows' version of sub-dir-mounts (junctions made with linkd or mountvol), *look* like the symlinks you make with "mklink". As a result when you install SW, it just overwrites your local mount structure causing rather chaotic results. So if it looks like a symlink -- and you install software into the "virtual dir" that you get with the symlink, there is a fair chance it will remove your symlink and install itself on the underlying disk. In your case, it sound like you were just going to use it for user files and not installed apps, so you are probably safe, but if you install something into the symlinked location, the installer may get rid of the symlink for fear it is pointing somewhere it shouldn't (like your system directory) and since most people won't even notice the difference in a symlinked dir, it's too easy for 'crackers' to use the symlinks for bad things -- so the choice to follow them or not is often not left to the user (i.e. the owner of the system). Oh, another difference, is that many recursive utilities won't follow symlinks by default (though many have options to do so). But you have to know which utils respect symlinks and which don't AND know which ones allow you to work around them. The *nix 'find' command has 3 top-level switches for changing symlink behavior (see 'man find' First line of the options descriptions talks about them).... Basically if what you have works for you, don't change it, but later on, it's good to know that some software may not work w/your choices and at least know what other options are available. BTW, if you respond to an email, don't feel you have to copy the whole email you are responding to into the new mail unless it is needed for context. [opensuse] System backup with BTRFS file system

Hello, In the pas I have user rsync to update portable disks that I can keep off site. It is not clear to me how to do the same thing with the subvolumes. I assume I could duplicate the structure and use rsync on each subvolume, but if the structure is changed how will rsync know? There must be a tool, but I could not locate it on google or openSuse. With standard file systems all one has to do is rsync / to the other disk. Looking for a way to duplicate my system.
