[opensuse] Where is gone squid_ldap_auth and squid_ldap_group on OpenSuSE?

Hello, I am using OpenSuSE 13.1 for a squid test, but i can't find the squid_ldap_auth and squid_ldap_group... There is some extra package to install ? Or something is changed? Help needed pls. [opensuse] How to disable OpenGL in Libreoffice 4.4?

Hello, is there a way to disable OpenGL (or another graphics hardware acceleration) in Libreoffice 4.4? The option to enable/disable OpenCL doesn't have an effect for me. See attached screenshot. I use Libreoffice 4.4 directly from libreoffice.org. Greetings, Björn

[opensuse] thin clients

I have a client that wants to set up a room in her daycare for older kids to play educational games. I was already looking at the Education LIfe, but my question is: Is it a good idea to just set up thin clients to load the image? These computers would not be online at all. It's not a tight budget, but I would like to keep it reasonable, and I think this would be cheaper than 10 full machines. [opensuse] Kernel Panic processor 1 lockup

Right now I'm running on my rescue CD on my Linux Laptop. I was right in the middle of posting to this list when the machine just locked up flashed the keyboard lights, fell back to a console display full of scary messages. Booting again, same result, and the messages suggest btrfs has bitten the dust. Booting from a read only snapshot, same result. The best I could do is take phone pics of the screen, and now I'm in recovery mode (which seems to work fine) and am about to try some btrfs diagnostics and see what I can find out without doing any more damage. Opensuse 13.2 x86_64. [opensuse] Problem with External Drive

I have OpenSuSE 13.1 using the default kernel trying to read some stuff off an external hard drive mounted via USB drive dock. The entire drive partition is encrypted. The auto mounter detects the drive and the fact it is encrypted, prompting for the passphrase and mounts it just fine. The problem is it only stays mounted for a short time and drops offline, then it detected agains, again prompting for the passphrase, etc. When I check the /dev/sd*, it first uses /dev/sdc*, then /dev/sdd*, then /dev/sde*, etc. The drives were attached to an OPenSuSE VM running under VMware ESXi using the USB passthrough feature, so I modified the disk_swap script I used to mount those drives which uses /dev/disk/by-id: umount /external echo "Please eject disk cartridge $current and insert cartrdge $next " echo " Please type OK when finished > " >reply while [ "$reply" != 'OK' ]; do echo reply="$reply" read reply done cryptsetup remove external #cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/disk/by-id/usb-USB_3.0_MassStorage_5VP374XR-0:0-part1 external echo "Mounting `ls -1 /dev/disk/by-id | grep MassStorage |grep part1 | cut -d' ' -f1`" cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/disk/by-id/`ls -1 /dev/disk/by-id | grep MassStorage |grep part1 | cut -d' ' -f1` external mount /dev/mapper/external /external df -h This mounts the drive and it stays online for a longer time but eventually drops off as well. Could me problem be with the auto mounter or autofs? Should I disable them while trying to use this drive? [opensuse] Bitness upgrade of 13.2 impossible due to reiserfs partitions?

Some older machine (32bit opensuse) advanced to 13.2 32bit and came a long way over the past years. I think most of the recent years and opensuse versions it advanced via zypper dup. Some places recently say that machines should be moved over to 64bit opensuse if possible by hw. So I try to upgrade via usb drive to boot the 64bit opensuse 13.2 installer. It takes really many minutes to look my hard drive but doesnt offer me upgrade 32bit opensuse nor find partitions, but offers to create new partition on free space of hard disk and wants to install everything to this new partition or format other existing partitions to xfs and btrfs and crazy stuff. Only parition it cared for was the swap (first partition). I go into manual partitioning graphical interface and try to show various partitions and tell each one what actual mount point it is on the 32bit 13.2 opensuse. I have boot and root and var I think. At the end I was scared of kinda to make it try to install as I was uncertain if it would then take a look at the already existing 32bit suse and rpm datrabases and all the config and all and an additional pop up complained that yast was very low quality and no guarantees if one had especially reiser partitons and some other aspects were listed I can not remember any more. Is this really state of the art that perfectly fine working and booting reiserfs partitions in 32bit opensuse 13.2 are unsupported or not being recognised or considered an adequate situation for 64bit opensuse 13.2? Opensuse linux kind of seems very weird to me the recent years. More stuff gets abandoned and I wonder why it is even important what fileysystem a user has available if the kernel already supports it why does a userland install program complain about it? Isnt this what software layers are supposed to be for? If kernel can talk to disk and partitions why scare the user away or why make setup application fail to find the existing 32bit opensuse 13.2? I think that complaint box didnt even list ext2 as valid only spoke about btrfs or ext3 I think. Why abandon all the proven and existing stuff that lower layers of open source and gnu-linux world brings along as support? Seemingly every day, I understand less and less of the weird path and road and opensuse is heading down to and the choices made by the project. [opensuse] copy of cups input data

Hello: I have a program I want to print from. Unfortunately I don't know how the program sends out the data to the printer, I only know that the data ends at CUPS and CUPS prints it out. Is it possible somehow to identify/make a copy of the data which is the input for CUPS (or exits from the program) so that I could analyze it? For example if it is text data or bitmap image data etc? [opensuse] 13.1 - Firefox 35 - What is: Offline Web Content & User Data?

All, After poking around setting on FF 35, I cam across: Settings -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline Web Content & User Data Its entry was: gabriel...github.io. I certainly hope I'm wrong, but from looking at this setting, it appears that my page cache was being stored on/at this location for "offline" use. If I'm offline, I sure as hell can't use it?? My question is - what is the site gabriel...github.io? (sorry spelling, I deleted before I wrote this). Second, does this mean my page cache was being stored remotely? When did this feature sneak into Firefox? I for one do NOT want my page caches stored remotely in any way, shape, form or fashion. This has huge implications for professions with associated privileges that are waived as a matter of law if disclosed to 3rd parties. (i.e. attorney-client, patient-physician, etc...) [opensuse] IPv6 to OpenSUSE sites?

Lately I have I have had to disable IPv6 to be able to get decent connection to sites like http://en.opensuse.org and forums. Otherwise page load is extremly slow and connecting to login.attachmategroup.com simply times out. I would like to know if others using IPv6 on this list has seen this problem.
