[opensuse] oss 13.1 dbus errors

I have an openSuse 13.1 system that uses systemd. The system has been running fine but after doing a zypper ref/up yesterday (against standard update repos), I have been seeing problems. After bootup, the machine runs fine for about 2 to 2.5 hours. After that, anytime I do a systemctl status <service>, I get following errors logged: Failed to get D-Bus connection: Failed to connect to socket /run/systemd/private: Connection refused I get same errors if I try to start or stop a service. I have tried various things, such as attempting to restart the dbus service, to no avail. This machine has cron jobs that check service status every so often, and the checks all start failing once this condition is encountered. Is anyone else seeing the same thing? [opensuse] From Grub to Grub2

Decided to stop using Grub conventional and to start using Grub2. Went into Yast /Bootloader and choose Grub2. Following error message was the result. What is next? Reporting a bug report??? as proposed would require more insight in my problem. ----------------------------------------- Error Internal error. I just now tried using the DVD on a Windows PC and it does boot so there is nothing wrong with the DVD. I may have to try using a new CD/DVD device in my system. Thanks for considering my problem. It stalls in the BIOS at the point where it says it is booting from the DVD. [opensuse] Where does GRUB reside? (related to cannot boot from CD/DVD)

In trying to solve why I can no longer boot from the DVD drive I've come across something I find rather strange. In the BIOS I choose to boot from CDROM at first device and set the 2nd and 3rd devices to disable. Reboot the system and it stalls at the Boot from CDROM for a minute or so then the computer presents me the multiple choices of various linux system to run. I next disabled all the boot devices in the BIOS and the system presents me with the screen showing the different linux systems to run. I don't understand how grub is accessed by the bios since I disabled and the boot devices. (BTW my computer is over 5 years old and does not allow booting from a usb device.) Can anyone explain this behavior? [opensuse] Adjusting processor clock speed

I was reading the documentation on performance tuning, and did not see any mention of how the processor clock speed is changed, and if there is any way aside from rebuilding the kernel to adjust the default policy. I would prefer the processor to use a higher clock speed when the system gets busy. I tried adjusting the: /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor but was not satisfied with my results. [opensuse] How to reset keyboard for edit?

I've messed up my keyboard settings. Now in CLI mode in KDE the edit functions such as HOME and END aren't working. Somewhere along the line I've reset something and can';t find in kdesetting/inputdevcices or whatever how to set it back. Starting a new 13.2 installatrion over pxe+ssh+http, with update repos. After setting up partitions, I get to "Installation Settings" : Software * Product: openSUSE * Product: openSUSE 13.1 NonOSS Add on * System Type: Minimal Server Selection (Text Mode) * Patterns: + Base System + YaST Installation Packages + Software Management * Size of Packages to Install: 813.3 MiB * Downloading from Remote Repositories: 176.1 MiB Why on earth do I have "openSUSE 13.1 NonOSS Add on" ??
