[opensuse] Leap compile error: atexit

I am trying to link a C application against a local library that references atexit(). The library is freshly compiled on the same computer. I get this error: /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.8/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: libdemo: hidden symbol `atexit' in /usr/lib64/libc_nonshare d.a(atexit.oS) is referenced by DSO I Googled this, but the discussions were both very old and mainly about c++ and the problems with some c++ compiler switches. This is on Leap. But it is also the first time I am compiling this software for a 64.bit platform. So I don't really know which is the key to the problem. [opensuse] Leap repos

I see that there are repos for Leap/42.1-Beta1 as well as Leap/42.1-RC1 and Leap/42.1-Current. I installed Leap/42.1-Beta1. If I want to track the state of Leap without doing a re-install, would it make sense to change my repos to Leap/42.1-RC1? And then Leap/42.1-RC2 when it is available, and so on? [opensuse] "hostname -f" - why do I not get a domain name??

I have two virtually identical systems, B10 and B11. One is a copy of the other apart from names and network addresses. On B10, "hostname -f" produces the hostname without the domain name, i.e. only "b10". On B11, "hostname -f" produces the hostname with the domain name, i.e. "b11.example.com". I have another few Bxx systems, all virtually identical copies of the same origin - none of them have a problem with "hostname -f". I suspect a DNS issue, but I can't put my finger on it. [opensuse] [13.2] How to integrate /opt/app/share/... into system

I've installed an application into /opt/<app>/. In its folder tree there are a bunch of files under /opt/<app>/share like appdata.xml, *.desktop, icons, locale, mime. [opensuse] how to get ANY openVPN solution to work in 13.2?

Hi, I would like to as for some advice. I would like to have openvpn running on 13.2. The connection would be trivial (to a "anonimizing" VPN provider, me client). The ovpn-config file is available. It worked in principle in leap (never in 13.2) but recently: networkmanager ovpn plugin and setup seems to be broken since the original release and was never fixed as it seems. I am not able to get a connect with it. If ever it connected it works like a fake vpn. The IP and your connection stay unmodified, while the system shows the VPN status connected. Seems to be a resolv.conf issue? So I tried with the when installing the rpm to authorization problems (where I am right now, so maybe, but only maybe) I will find a solution. So I thought I ask: is there anyone that has managed to make it work and how (what program and what modifications). Out of potential possibilities which program / solution is the safest? Is there any plan to backport a fix it in 13.2? Should I manage to fix and to connect it: since the "belongs to what firewallzone" in networkmanager settings is also broken, I hope that opensuse Firewall is still up when using openvpn (or am I without knowing then exposed DMZ or even internal?). How can I check if firewall is protecting me when I am under openvpn (provided there will be one day and I am going to make it work). If this is just a KDE problem (which I doubt): would it be possible (and safe) to run a separate OS within kvm and use from there openVPN. Would I be able to set up such a machine in order to be able to access only one shared folder in userland and nothing else? Last question: I tried to look up the online help for networkmanager plasmoid (the one in the tray in KDE default install to be clear) but did not find any available explanation about the functionalities offered. I searched for the docs in the repos but did not find any. Is there any doc available for that plugin or was it never written. Thank you. --- Alle Postfächer an einem Ort. [opensuse] can't read tooltips

Hi 13.2 with KDE If we hover the pointer over a button, we see a black rectangle as if we have black writing on a black background. we tried different theme, but the same blackness. [opensuse] Export PNG from dia: how to determine picture size?

Hello list, OpenSuSE 13.2, up-to-date. dia 0.97.3. In earlier OpenSuSE versions, I used to select "PNG (anti-aliased)" when exporting diagrams from dia, and this option prompted me for the size (in pixels) of the resulting image. Very handy. In the current version, this choice is no longer in the list. There are other choices for PNG, such as "Cairo PNG", and the export work, but I have no control over the resulting image size when selecting these. Am I missing a library? Is there another option somewhere that I should use instead? Any suggestion is welcome. TIA Cheers. Bye. Ph.
