[opensuse] Syncing photographs with shotwell on two computers

Shotwell is configured to store tags and tittles in the photos; however, what I do in one computer doesn't show on the other computer, as if it were done in a database instead. [opensuse] root-owned files being written to user space (os 13.2)

Howdy. I am getting root-owned files written to a user directory. Why is this happening and how / where do I configure to get whatever is creating these to instead write to a root-owned space? The files are: ~/.config/YaST2/y2controlcenter-qt.conf ~/.config/YaST2/YQOnlineUpdate.conf ~/.config/YaST2/YQPackageSelector.conf ~/.config/QtProject.conf My desktop is lxde (gtk) and the 13.2 os is: 3.16.7-24-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Aug 3 14:37:06 UTC 2015 (ec183cc) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Thanks. anyone ever get the above device installed and working? I had it barely working for a few hours and now ---nada I brought this tuner because it is listed as supported on the linuxtv.org site http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-955Q I loaded a new version of the kernel onto my system (which is manjaro openrc) and I scanned it on the atsc over the air channel with a mini- antenna it came with and it pulled up only one channel. So I brought an amplified terk antenna and got a decent channels.conf file out of is with w_scan -af -A1 -c US -x >> ~/channels.conf But during the world series it seems to just stop getting imput. I've using VLC to watch it and used a vlcchans.xspf playlist that w_scan was kind enough to make for me. Kaffeine doesn't work. [opensuse] Leap 42 Beta - grub problem

r Hi All, I'm having trouble booting into a multi-boot setup after installing Leap 42.1 Beta (openSUSE-Leap-42.1-DVD-x86_64-Build0186). System is a laptop with only 1 hdd. All os's seem to be running ok. At the grub prompt I tried grub> find /boot/grub/menu.lst -> (hd0,2) grub> root (hd0,2) grub> setup (hd0,1) grub> reboot The procedure completes successfully but there are some non-fatal errors. On rebooting I still only get the grub prompt. I tried re-installing the boot loader from yast boot loader in the 13.1 system but no change. I tried re-installing the boot loader from the leap system (via yast) but no change. The installation of Leap 42 went smoothly except for the problem with grub. Previously I was booting with grub2 (from 13.1), prior to that with the win vista boot manager. It is a 6 years old hp pavillion and I use it for trying out things and for running certain MS software. I have goggled and read articles o In grub, but I can't sort this one out, any help would be appreciated, A fix with either grub or grub-legacy are ok. [opensuse] 13.1 suspend - hard drive wakes in different state - how/what to check.

All, I generally don't bother with suspend, just setting the screen-saver to blank and letting dpms power the display off, leaving the rest idling. That way I can ssh back into the box if I need something. However, I was testing suspend (pm-utils from the logout menu option), and ran into a strange quirk. After waking from suspend, the hard drives seems to be left in a low-power mode. I can hear it spin-up every few seconds and then it will idle down again. Pre-suspend, the disk is in the normal always-on mode (with hdparm -B = 96). I don't know what config would make it wake in a different mode, but I can hear the drive spin up regularly after waking. Is there somewhere in /etc/pm... or /etc/sysconfig where wake drive power state is configured. -- David C. [opensuse] Bios inaccessible

Yesterday I bought an HP 15-AF070NG, which was very cheap. My avarice (it's not for nothing that the Roman Catholic church qualifies it as one of the seven deadly sins) was punished immediately because, when I tried to read the first DVD of openSUSE 13.2, the computer booted Windows in spite. Nor was there any possibility to access Bios because none of the usual keys, F2, F6 or F8, worked. So I returned the computer to the store where I had bought it for trying out other models, also much more expensive ones, e.g. Asus, Acer, and I don't remember which others. But I did not find any that booted from the openSUSE 13.2 DVD or granted me access to Bios. Eventually, I got my money back, thanks to God they were so generous. On my opinion, Microsoft now has contracts with the computer makers obliging them, not to give any possibility to the costumers to run an operating system different from Windows. Do you know any remedy or work-around?
