Hello List tumbleweed [ slightly off-topic??] todays zypper dup was large : about 325 items - libpango update got 'stuck' .............. - seemed to install new libpango but did not succeed to remove old libpango ............ Copy One Hard Drive To Another Hard Drive(Backup)? Hi, I was running Win 8 until the release of 12.3. I am happy with 12.3 and will continue to use it. My question now is how would I copy a 1TB HDD to another 1TB HDD for purposes of backup of data? I was hoping there was a program somewhere for 12.3 that would do the above using a convenient GUI, but I can't find one. (I would prefer a program with a GUI - not Terminal commands or BootCD) Thanks! [opensuse] Canon LiDE25 Scanner problems on openSUSE 12.3

I've got a Canon LiDE25 USB scanner which has worked perfectly with previous versions (12.1 and earlier) of openSUSE (it also works with the current Kubuntu release... just tested it). sane-find-scanner gives me: found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x2220 [CanoScan]) at libusb:008:010 If I launch Skanlite, the initial scanner detect window flashes on screen really fast, and then nothing. If I now unplug the scanner, Skanlite pops up, but it has no connected scanner. Trying to scan now gives an expected I/O Error. Launching Skanlite via CLI gives nothing in the terminal. I've tried various other ways of scanning - for example via LibreOffice (Insert > Pciture >Scan > Request) with no results. If I try Insert > Pciture >Scan > Select Source, LibreOffice locks up. If I fire up VirtualBox and boot Windows or Kubuntu (in the VM), I can scan just fine - this is with my openSUSE 12.3 as host. Going into YaST > Hardware > Scanner, it sees the scanner, but it is in a "Not Configured" status. If I edit the scanner, it defaults to the correct driver (plustek). If I select it, and click next, the system churns away a bit, and comes back with the scanner falled as not configured. So... I'm stuck. This scanner used to be a 100% plug-and-play scanner with openSUSE, but now it's not. What else can I poke at to get it working in 12.3? Any tips or ideas? [opensuse] No sound with recent KDE 4 update

There was a KDE 4 update recently, which appears to have killed audio on my computers. When I open KDE Mixer, there are no capture devices or streams. [opensuse] Probs with 11.3 installation

This is a dual core pentium 4 hp dc5000 looks like 2 gigs of ram I had trouble with one module tg3 but it installed when I go to set up the network card which it detects, it says it cannot configure because the kernel device, eth0, wlan0, firmware, is not present Harware information in yast says it is d530 CMT DG746A BCMS782 gigabit ethernet manufacturer is broadcom the spec d530 CMT DG746A also shows up0 at the IDE controller under storage media this was fine when I got the box with centos 6 on it the error message also said to consult dmesg dmesg is big :) what am I looking for? 12.3 Hi I'm converting some music CD's for my 'phone using Sound Juicer. It's fine for rock/pop but poor for classical tracks. I notice sound juicer will only write ogg. It says mp3 and mp4 output is not available. Qns. 1. Would I gain by converting to mp3 or mp4 instead? 2. If so what else do I need? 3. How about the quality? Any advice on an app which may be better than sj? I'd rather stick to point and click but I don't mide cli if that's the only way I can up the quality. Thanks.
