[opensuse] Thinkpad E520 & openSUSE 12.3 - No shut down or reboot

I just installed openSUSE 12.3 on my ThinkPad E520 and one thing I've noticed is that when I try to shut down or reboot, using the desktop or menu, my computer only proceeds to a black screen and does not complete shutting down or rebooting. [opensuse] Problems with Device Notifier - opensuse 12.3

Just wondering if anyone else has found that when you put a video DVD in their drive it does not come up with the related DVD options. Things like Rip Video DVD or Play DVD with Kaffeine etc do not appear while Open with File Manager and a couple other things associated with data discs do. All DVD device actions are listed in the Device Notifier Settings. They just don't appear when a video DVD is inserted. Does anyone have any idea how to correct this? [opensuse] misleading file listings when ACL is set

12.3 running a Samba 4 DC and file server Hi everyone. I have a share with no ACL set. We use cifs to mount the share on other 12.3 clients which are joined to the domain. When a file is created it looks like this: -rwxrwxr-x+ This suggests that group members can edit it. They can't. In real life, it behaves as: -rw-r--r-- just as the windows security tab for the same file suggests. I know that ACL's are a nightmare when converting between posix and windows flavours, but Is there any way we can get a 'nearer the truth' Linux file listing when ACL's have to be set? After update from 12.2 to 12.3 suspend in menu is lost again. [opensuse] 12.3 Rescue CD Question

All this was done on my 12.2 side of system. See Signature below for Config. I downloaded the 12.3 Rescue CD from the opensuse download page. I get the same menu as the 12.3 Live CD. Nothing about Rescue. Is this correct and if so why would I need the Live CD also? I will report seperately later after I make sure I did not do something wrong. Ran md5sum and sha1sum. Both correct. Then burned CD with the version of K3B from : [CODE] URL: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/410/openSUSE_12.2/ 9wvj:~> rpm -q k3b k3b-2.0.2-101.7.x86_64 [/CODE] Burned the iso and booted the system. I get the same menu as the 12.3 Live CD. Nothing about Rescue. Is this correct and if so why would I need the Live CD also? Also installed the version from packman. No difference except it seems to retain the burn info and does not check md5 if you try burning again. I will report seperately later after I make sure I did not do something wrong. I got this message when installing kdm on 12.3 Warning: Do not know how to create missing GreeterUID user kdm I see the reference in /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc but its commented out. If I uncomment it, kdm won't start. I also note https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625765 Is nothing being done about this? I am using Thunderbird on 12.3 to read my gmail messages. I have tried unsuccessfully to change the font size of received messages. The settings in preferences do not work. [opensuse] VirtualBox guest question

Is it possible to use an backup image file as a VirtualBox guest? I currently have a PC which triple boots Win-7-Ult & openSuSE 12.2/12.3. I would like to move the windows installation to a VB guest without having to uninstall and install fresh into the guest in order to meet the %^&* MS licensing policy.
