[opensuse] 12:3: Python chaos

Hi, I recently installed some stuff, including gnuradio and QGis2. I don't know when exactly, but at some point, the PlasmaCon widget stopped working and is now complainind that it's unable to start a Python script engine. Some googling pointed towards possible version conflicts but I can't determine, what exactly is the problem. [opensuse] Wireshark and capture-filters

Hi, Sometimes I need Wireshark to debug some network-stuff. In older versions I could set up capture filters and use them. Since a while (I even think from the start when I installed OS 12.2) this is not possible. I have to use display-filters. Do I need to install something more that I don't know of ? Am I the only one experiencing this ? When starting a capture there used to be a place to specify the capture-filter. Now it's not available any more. There is a menu-entry to specify it, but it does not work. Thanks for any pointers. [opensuse] openSUSE 13.1 64 x11-video-intel update

Dears openSUSers, I installed the updated x11-video-intel.rpm recently released by openSUSE through updates management and by that moment I noticed that by sliding the mouse cursor on the window border on right-top of close-maximize-minimize buttons they take a strange behaviour because they loose the default colour (shifting from black to white). Before the upgrade of this package the behaviour was normal, no shift of colours. (I'm using high-contrast option in Tweak-Tools look and feel). [opensuse] How are fonts different on 32bit progs vs. 64-bit?

After waiting 4-5 minutes for fonts-config to update the fontconfig cache files, it then started doing the same thing for 32bit cache files? Um... Aren't fonts architecturally neutral? Why two separate caches? Also, the 64-bit cache seemed to go w/o probs, but the 32bit files: Creating fonts.{scale,dir} files ............ /usr/share/fonts-config/conf.avail/12-suse-hinting-bc.conf unchanged /usr/share/fonts-config/conf.avail/17-suse-bitmaps.conf unchanged Creating cache files for fontconfig ................................................................... Creating 32bit cache files for fontconfig ./usr/share/fonts/100dpi: error scanning /usr/share/fonts/75dpi: error scanning ./usr/share/fonts/OTF: error scanning ./usr/share/fonts/TTF: error scanning /usr/share/fonts/Type1: error scanning /usr/share/fonts/Windows: error scanning .........../usr/share/fonts/misc/sgi: error scanning ...../usr/share/fonts/truetype: error scanning ................/usr/share/fonts/Type1: error scanning ....../usr/share/fonts/OTF: error scanning ./usr/share/fonts/TTF: error scanning ........... [opensuse] Ignorant in setting radeon power profile

Hi all, Yesterday I installed oS 13.1 and it went smooth. I was afraid of it because of the missing fglrx for my config - that is why I skipped oS 12.3, more precisely, went back 12.2 after a day's usage. I have an old ATI Radeon HD 4730 (RV770) video card. Now the fan is less loud than it was in 12.3, but noisy compared to the fglrx driver used in 12 2. Now I read an X.org page (http://www.x.org/wiki/RadeonFeature/) and found the following line Select the profile by echoing the selected profile to /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile. What does that mean and how to do it? Now the profile is 'default' but I think 'mid' or 'low' would be sufficient for me. There is mostly text on my screen, no games at all. BTW, oS 13.1 with KDE 4.12 Thanks, Albert

Hello openSuSErs Since upgrade to oS 13.1 - notice that with Ktorrent version 4.3.1 it is not possible to use http trackers : message : Error:Inv .............. i have tried every combination of Proxy & No-Proxy, however have not yet succeeded to get any http tracker to work. Hello list, since upgrading to 13.1 i have some trouble with python. Everytime when i start a program it quits. [opensuse] Network don' come up into OpenSuse 13.1 32bit (Again)

Another problem with the network, a machine after upgrade from 12.3 to 13.1 (zypper dup method), as always, at the first boot the eth0 device is renamed to ens3. After applying the suggested workaround, to reverse to the old network device naming method (ln -s /dev/null /etc/udev/rules.d/80-net-name-slot.rules), finally the eth0 come up... BUT! no ip address is assigned to it, and the config files appears to be right: cat /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 BOOTPROTO='static' BROADCAST='' ETHTOOL_OPTIONS='' IPADDR='192.168.90.30/24' MTU='' NAME='RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+' NETMASK='255.255.255.0' NETWORK='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='auto' USERCONTROL='no' also, no changes with a rcnetwork restart.
