[opensuse] starting lvm at boot-up ?

I have a newly installed 12.3 system. Yesterday I attached a disk-array to it, with a number of existing logical volumes. On boot-up, they weren't activated, apparently due to /etc/init.d/boot/lvm not being called. I ran 'insserv boot.lvm' which solved the problem, but I am wondering how that would/should normally be done? Also a little odd - I have a slightly older system which also uses LVM. Is anyone running 12.3+systemd on HP proliant? I've installed the PSP, but I can't start the SNMP agents. [opensuse] "Find my mouse pointer" feature

Random question for everyone - On my old laptop at work, oS 11.4 had a "find my mouse pointer" feature where you could shake your mouse, and it would draw concentric circles around the pointer. Alas, I can't seem to find that feature in 12.3 on KDE :/ There is an option you can enable where you hit a key combination to do something similar, but it's not nearly as handy since you have to move your hands from where they are to hit that key combo. [opensuse] obscure lib- dependancy

Hi all, I'm trying to use a "foreign" binary lib onto my suse machine. when i put the lib on exactly the same place (/usr/lib64/....) the relevant applications, like openvpn and pkcs11-tools, works without a hitch. So far so good. next i tried to build a simple package around it, in order to get it installed on other machines aswell; but then i ran into something strange. Even on the machine where the lib is perfectly working, the installer complains about a dependancy, eventhough ldd indicates that all seems OK. [opensuse] X segfaults when we open Firefox or Chromium

I've just helped a friend set up his system on openSUSE12.3. The hardware is i7-3770, NVIDIA GTX 670, MSI GD65 motherboard, 16GB RAM. Software is a complete default 12.3 install with KDE4 and updates. We added packman, Mozilla, Libreoffice, and nvidia repos, and updated again. Next we installed Chromium and Pepper Flash. Post updates, we verified that the NVIDIA drivers (319.32) were installed and working. Then, with no other desktop setting changes or applications installed, we opened Firefox, and X crashed immediately. Logged back in and tried Chomium... which also crashed X after opening a website (specifically the Skype website). Troubleshooting included deleting the /home/$USER/.mozilla and /home/$USER/.local/chromium directories. [opensuse] Original INITRD_MODULES....

Stupid me, I forgot to comment out and to copy the original INITRD_MODULES line the /etc/sysconfig/kernel and just changed it. Now I have the problem that a module is not loaded which causes the display to stay in a relative low resolution during and after boot. It is also the reason that when switching from console to X-window, the X-window freezes for some seconds. Is there a way to rebuild the contents using the initrd file?
