My opensuse 12.1 on lenovo z570 cannot find any network interface. [opensuse] Samba printing blocked by NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

Without any change in settings (known to me), I lost contact with the Samba printers in my department. I get NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED. Any idea how can I get back to a working state. The Samba print server is working fine. Another openSUSE users in the domain are able to print. I reset the printers in YaST and the "Test Connection" gives OK (so it sees the server) and I double-checked the user name and password. [opensuse] RE: Tips on Avoiding Any Hard Drive RAID Not Mounting on Startup and Failing to Multiple Error Levels

Like many, I too have had my share of RAID volumes being created and mounting perfectly after creation only to find that the Volume will not mount at boot and failing to any number of error levels. Often the user is presented with a shell repair mode and running repairs like fsck could be the worst thing you can do. Often the problem is the superblock creation time...here's the kicker... If the RAID was created whilst a system is up and running, that system date/time is taken from your prevailing clock. Most of us set up a NTP Network Service to auto sync with time servers all over the world. IF, at boot, your PC's CMOS date/time is behind the date/time of the PC's session clock, you will be flooded with huge numbers of reasons why the volume wont mount... The real reason is that the Superblock will be written to the date/time of your PC session clock and now at boot, with your CMOS clock retarded! You will be flooded with various error levels as to why the volume wont mount and some reasons are really fancifully and as a consequence to an Invalid Superblock The number of error levels that could possibly appear at boot as to why the volume wont mount could be just about any reason. Before you start entertaining using any repair mode, or any maintenance mode where / is mounted rw, just make sure your CMOS clock is accurate. My memory is very fuzzy, so don't hold me to this: If you are just getting the errors for the first time, it might be the kernel. IIRC the kernel code has some explicit handling for certain boards known to be problematic with MCE, and there may have been some other peculiarities with this code. While IIRC the mcelog package can be removed, I think there may also be a kernel argument that disables checking ("nomce"). I'm not suggesting you just dismiss the error msgs; they could be valid so are worth following up on. What I did though was install a newer kernel and the errors immediately ceased. Since then they haven't reappeared with all the subsequent kernel upgrades. -- Thank you for the illuminating reply. Much appreciated. I should have made it clearer that he errors did not occur until immediately after the kernel upgrade. The kernel running, 2.6.37.6-0.11-desktop, is the most recent provided by Yast in opesuse 11.4. I know it is because of slow antispam processing, by both amavisd and spamd (spamd is triggered via local .procmailrc rules). The actual antispam is done by spamd, amavis cares of malware. But it should be faster, this is a powerful machine. The processing by amavis takes between 120 ms and 600 ms. Not bad, considering. Spamd is slower, takes around 3 or more seconds per message (3..6). I think it is because of the waiting for online tests, so the solution would be to have more simultaneous processes. I have done this in the past - - but it is not working now.
