[opensuse] 11.4 x64 and LibreOffice Python Problem

Hi ! I have problem with LibreOffice 3.4.2.6-2.8 (SuSE build from stable repository) and Python/Uno. I wrote a test function in Python which obtains and changes cell content in Calc spreadsheet. Right it is possible to obtain cell content from Python, but it is not possible to change it. The application I'm writing is quite complex, and it requires numeric & scientific libraries like numpy and scipy. With "standard" LibreOffice and its "built-in" Python interpreter it would be a problem. [opensuse] [OT] MAPI and Linux e-mail clients

Our organization has gone fully over to the dark side. E-mail is now only available via MAPI. They have no interest in installing IMAP/POP/SMTP in their Exchange server. (Note the us/them tone...) End of discussion. Sigh. On Linux, I can use the web interface to outlook in a browser. But that is about it. I have yet to find a MAPI client solution for a Linux e-mail client. At least not that I can run on openSUSE 11.2 or 11.4. (The MAPI support for evolution on OBS is strangely in a different repo with different dependencies than evolution, making installation very obtrusive to the rest of GNOME. Why the evolution MAPI plugin is not in the evolution repo so this is minimized is a mystery.) Has anyone found a working MAPI client for openSUSE? The searches I have done indicate that this is not ready for prime time. Perhaps because the protocol is poorly documented. Some sites offer as solutions the installation of additional software on the Exchange server. I would imagine that in most places this will not happen. A MAPI client for Linux is needed. Any pointers or suggestions on dealing with MAPI from openSUSE are welcome. I am hoping I have missed something. [opensuse] bash scripts from file manager in kde

I have written a few bash scripts for synching files to a memory stick and I am wondering, is there a way to execute a script by making an icon and clicking on it from kde? I know how to execute the scripts from the command line using . or sh already, but I haven't been able to figure out how to execute by clicking on the file's icon. [opensuse] Libreoffice crashing on startup

Hello SuSE people. Running 11.3 with KDE3. For no apparent reason, out of the blue, LibreOffice is crashing at startup quth a signal 11. The nessage is that soffice.bin crashed. I checked whatever logs that I could think of with no apparent entry. (Does LibreOffice log spmewhere?) I made zypper reinstall it. No change. Anyone else see this? Hints. suggestions, whatever? [opensuse] harddisk supply issues?

Just wondering if anyone might have noticed this - I'm staging harddisk purchases such that I get drives that have different manufacturing dates. By buying drives once a month, I get a really good variation. Recently however, I'm seeing that drives (Hitachi Ultrastars) ordered in July/August/September all have manufacturing date March 2011. [opensuse] netatalk host net seen in iMac chooser

Greetings list. Server OpenSuSE 11.4 netatalk installed from repos (2.0.3 I think) Client iMac OSX 10.6.8 I have successfully created a time machine backup on the server. So AFP appears to be working. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I can manually connect to the server using AFP but I don't see the server in the chooser. Any ideas ? [opensuse] installation from an downloaded iso image

I know that it is possible to use a downloaded iso file to install opensuse without burning it to a DVD. I was asked by a Window user who is planning to change his OS if it would be possible to do this from a Window environment. Has somebody experience in this respect. The computer has no DVD or CD rom and the USB port is not working right now. Hi, a couple of weeks ago I added this Qt repository to get rid of the black screen on bootup bug. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/namtrac:/branches:/KDE:/Qt/… However, the repository presently seems to have gone away, and I can't access it when I try to do an update. Has this repository died, and is there another repository now to take its place? I am using openSuse 11.4 and kde 4.7. [opensuse] what to put on a _small_ netbook

Hi, I have to re-install my wife's acer-aspire-one, a small netbook with just 512MB (you have to be a brain surgeon to upgrade the mem). And worse, just a 10" display. Any recommendations? smeegol? 11.4? 12.1?
