[opensuse] DAAP Server [packaged for openSUSE]

I have a 32bit openSUSE 11.4 I'd like to use to provide DAAP service to the local network. But I'm rather surprised (a) there doesn't appear to be a maintained Open Source DAAP server [lots of mentions of Firefly, which appears to be dead - the website doesn't even load - and no packages anywhere] or (b) no DAAP server in the openSUSE repositories. [opensuse] How do I disable dhcp 6 client

Hi, How do I disable the start up of the IPv6 dhcp client? The client is filling up the system log with messages as it cannot get a lease. I've set DHCLIENT6_BIN="none" in /etc/sysconfig/network/dhcp in the hopes that an unrecognized/unsupported option would would prevent the startup of the IPv6 client, but this did not work. I also set: echo “alias net-pf-10 off” >> /etc/modprobe.conf.local echo “alias ipv6 off” >> /etc/modprobe.conf.local But that didn't do the trick either. Help is appreciated. [opensuse] KDE Battery widget reads 11% w/ charged battery

My new T520 has been working fine with OpenSuSE 11.4 and KDE installed. Up unitl Wednesday, the battery widget in the panel read 98% charged. Starting sometime Thursday, it turned red and reads "11% (charged)". It continues to read the same after a couple of hours of suspend to ram and overnight suspend to disk. viajero:/proc/acpi/battery/BAT0 # cat info present: yes design capacity: 5616 mAh last full capacity: 5615 mAh battery technology: rechargeable design voltage: 10800 mV design capacity warning: 280 mAh design capacity low: 18 mAh cycle count: 0 capacity granularity 1: 1 mAh capacity granularity 2: 1 mAh model number: 42T4911 serial number: 56301 battery type: LION OEM info: LGC viajero:/proc/acpi/battery/BAT0 # cat state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: 0 mA remaining capacity: 5615 mAh present voltage: 12549 mV Comparing this 6 cell setup to the 9 cell setup in my T41, this looks reasonable given the change in capacity measurements from mWh to mAh. I did a clean install of OpenSuSE 11.4 which includes Postfix 2.7.2. Outgoing mail is being relayed correctly. Local mail is discarded. Hiall, just trying to do a distro upgrade with zypper from 11.2 to 11.4. I replaced the repos with the corresponding 11.4 versions and the zypper update went well. Now after zypper dup and about 15 mins of downloading and installing, I see a whole series of errors in the following style (there are hundreds until the shell buffer ends, all within /usr/src/linux-2.6.37.6-0.5- obj/i386/debug/include/config/): error: db4 error(-30977) from dbcursor->c_get: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery error: error(-30977) getting "/usr/src/linux-2.6.37.6-0.5- obj/i386/debug/include/config/strip/asm/" records from Dirnames index Any ideas? should I just retry zypper dup? [opensuse] Major failure of 11.4 installation

I have nicely installed 11.4 on 3 desktops and 1 laptop with no obvious issues (except a couple of small ones). But it failed substantially on a 4th desktop. There was a whole range of problems, a frequent one being simply a dead freeze (no display, no response). They could occur while updating rpms, compiling code, or just sitting idle. An annoying part was that the computer is on a network switch with 2 other computers, both running 11.4. All 3 computers do nfs mounts from the others. When the computer failed, the other computers would hang, and I could not ping to any of them. I considered hardware issues. The hard disks check out just fine with SMART. I changed the power supply, with no benefit. I have a new CPU chip on order (it is faster anyway). With various checking and reinstallations, I have spent a few days on the problem. Today, I reinstalled 11.3. The computer is running fine, and all looks splendid. The long compilations went fine. I pushed the cpu hard (loads up to 2.1), with no problems. Something seems wrong with the 11.4 system. I use the base (KDE) install, but add a lot of rpms for my needs. The crashes seldom left any messages of failure. Any messages I saw did not seem helpful, nor were the failures ever reproducible. I have no idea where the problem is. I do not know what to specify for a bug report. My configuration is: Motherboard: Asus M2N-E CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (to be replaced with a 5200+) Graphics: nVidia GeForce 7600 GS Monitor: Viewsonic G810 (1600x1200) Kernel: 2.6.37.6-0.5 Maybe I need another message for this, but the two small problems are: 1) When booting the 11.4 computers, the mount-nfs process starts _very_ early, and the booting has to wait for a timeout. This should be fixed (does not happen on 11.3). Once booted, all the disks are mounted. 2) One computer has a Viewsonic VA2431wm monitor, with a 1920x1080 display. When the installation gets to bringing up the login screen, the display becomes a pattern of rectangles. I have to reboot into the Failsafe mode, and then install the proprietary Nvidia drivers to make the display behave properly. Display of this size are now common, and the installation code should accommodate to them.
