Dear all, To install the Lexmark printer on my SUSE 10.3 , a script to run to create some virtual queue of the print but there is some wrong as below: This script uses a set of system connands which may be in a different location of your system.The section on "System Commands" specifies the location of these commands The following system command(s) were not found: File missing -- /usr/bin/enable File missing -- /usr/bin/disable HOW TO FIX ---------- This problem can be easily corrected by manually editing the script [ /usr.lexprint/bin/.scripts/shared] and modify the System Commands section. I link the file /usr/bin/enable and /usr/bin/disable -->/usr/bin/accept as someone told on the BBS. After that ,I can success to add printer(find it from network) and create the print queue.but can not to enable it. No any other error log. [opensuse] VLC strangeness

Hi .. Well i dont even know how to begin this one as i have a feeling it is very region specific but here goes anyway. I am using VLC to view TV my card is one of the Haupague cards i will be watching tv perfectly ok then for no reason it just stops displaying certain channels , These are all the BBC channels and it is spread across Tv and Radio but as i say only BBC stuff if i shut down VLC open it up again then rescan the channels it will be ok for maybe a day or so then the same thing happens . No matter what i do it will not work with the previous playlist file nor using the xine channels.conf file I have reported this on the VLC Linux forum as well any ideas at all ? makes no sense at all to me .. purley because it only effects BBC stuff .. [opensuse] crontab

Hi, What is the correct way to edit the system crontab file? I know I've done it in the past, because I have /etc/crontab which contains all my backup routines. Is it permissible to edit it with any editor (eg. vim, kate), as root? I've tried issuing ~ # crontab -e but that just creates a new, blank file. [opensuse] How do I make a Wifi connection

I have been struggling to configure my Wifi connection. I understood from previous threads that I have to remove NetworkManager.state and to do rcnetwork restart to be able to configure the Wifi connection with NetworkManager. This did not lead to success. So now I intend to make a fresh 11.3 installation, remove NetworkManager.state and do rcnetwork restart. Then I'll do a NetworkManager guided install. [opensuse] Strange problems with libjpeg

Yesterday some strange problem appeared: some programs which deal with jpg files fail to do it with sometimes the following error in the console: libpng error: Not a PNG file Most notably, I cannot start Savage XR: it fails to load maps stored as jpg files locally. It seems all necessary packages for working with jpeg are installed. [opensuse] Fwd: How do I config "startx" to give me a desktop?

What do I need to do to cause startx to give me a lxde session? == details This is a server I recently upgraded 11.3. CLI only historically. I just added the new lxde pattern via yast. (No gnome / kde / etc.) init 5 lets me login with a lxde desktop session, so I appear to have the core software installed and working. But this is a server and I prefer to leave it at init 3 most of the time and run startx if I want a lxde session. Unfortunately, that just gives me a bare bones X screen. ie. [opensuse] Dynamic DNS problem

Hi, I use a dynamic DNS, i.e. I want the dhcp-server to update the master's dns-server's records. Then this master updates the slave's records. This worked fine but now the update does not work anymore. I found out when I tried to create a static record. I restarted both the dhcp-server and the dns-servers. On the master I got this message : named[23503]: zone 168.192.in-addr.arpa/IN: journal rollforward failed: journal out of sync with zone named[23503]: zone ace-electronics.be/IN: journal rollforward failed: journal out of sync with zone Actually this is the second time I get this, last time a few months ago. Then I just deleted the journal-files and restarted the dns-server. I could do this again, but I wonder if there's a better way to restore the updates. And important : why would this happen ? Opensuse 11.3 x64 The GUI Login just cycles, but never logs in, or it will break out to a command prompt where I can log in. Startx fails and just says there is a GUI running (which) there isn't. I tried both an Nvidia (6200) and ATI (4350) doesn't seem to matter, although I haven't installed specific drivers yet. Opensuse 11.3 Samba Server. Network Device setup correctly firewall is off. NIC is eth0 set to external LAN working fine and Samba Shares. But, the server can't ping out, can't update, or open browser.
