[opensuse] Root-partition migration ext3 to ext4

Used partitions; part3 ext3 grub bootdisk (stays at ext3) part5 ext3 / (migrate to ext4) part10 ext4 backupspace Migration process: 1 Boot systemrescuecd ( http://www.sysresccd.org ) 2 mount sda10 backupspace 3 make backup of partition 5 fsarchiver savefs part5.fsa /dev/sda5 4 create fs ext4 and restore fsarchiver restfs part5.fsa id=0,dest=/dev/sda5,mkfs=ext4 5 reboot Til sofar everything is OK. The question, how do I modify the bootprocess so it doesn't an fsck.ext3 but fsck.ext4 Next question are there other dependencies in the bootprocess of the filesystem ? [opensuse] A KVM with two NICs - how to?

OS: OS 11.2 (64 bit) with stock kernel and 6GB RAM. br0 is defined and bound to eth0, tap0, tap1. br0 is 192.168.1.69. I have a script to start a KVM with two network interfaces. The content of which is: <kvm script> qemu-kvm -vga cirrus -m 512 -boot d -cdrom /mnt/transcend-1TB/ISO/debian/debian-testing-amd64-DVD-1.iso -hda $KVM_DIR/vdisks/debian.vdd -hdd $KVM_DIR/vdisks/ba11_swap.vdd -net nic,model=rtl8139,macaddr=${nic_mac_addr0} -net tap,ifname=tap0,script=no,downscript=no -net nic,model=rtl8139,macaddr=${nic_mac_addr1} -net tap,ifname=tap1,script=no,downscript=no </kvm script> Where ${nic_mac_addr?} is generated by another script to give unique MAC address to each interface. This VM will act as a gateway to a set of other VMs that are on the same VLAN. The idea is that NIC associated with tap0 will be on the 192.168.1.x network (and do NAT/Proxy) and NIC associated with tap1 will be 172.16.0.1/16 and be the gateway to other VMs. The above script does not work. I am trying to install Debian Testing as a guest OS directly from the ISO file. KVM initializes and boots from the ISO file and shows the Debian installer screen. As soon as I select an install option things break loose. The KVM SDL window gets locked. The LEDs on all my ethernet switches start flashing. I am not able to connect to other hosts on the LAN and the same is true vice versa. To see what is going on the LAN, I opened a terminal and started up tcpdump. Doing CTRL-C has no effect. [opensuse] How to set default values for kde panel?

Hello, I want to set some default values for all users for the panel. For example, I see that when I configure the panel to hide automatically, the setting of panelVisibility in section [PlasmaViews][2] in file /home/jw/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktoprc changes from 0 to 1. Now I see that in /etc/kde4, there is the same directory structure as in ~/.kde4, so I thought I would set this value just there. But this don't seem to have any effect on the panel. [opensuse] CPU at 100% all the time?

I did something silly... I enabled Nepomuk and Strigi while working through some of the features of KDE with a friend. After showing what it was.. explaining a little, I switched off Strigi and then Nepomuk. Since then, whenever the computer is idle, Xorg eats up 100% CPU. If I bump the mouse it drops to 2%-ish. I can't find out what is really going on here... Nepomuk is no longer running (I can't see it in the process list or with top). Nothing else was added or installed/updated. The ONLY change made between when the computer was behaving normal and now is that I enabled Nepomuk for about 10 minutes. I've done all I can think of to try and "fix" this... I even rebooted. Nothing changes... the computer sits idle for a period, and bam... 100% CPU (I know when this happens because the cooling fans go into overdrive... a normally silent system starts to sound like a jet engine). Anyone have any tips or ideas on how I can fix this... or start digging into what went haywire? [opensuse] kde4 factory - broken dependencies for kde4-printer-applet-4.4.3-127.1.x86_64

Listmates, It looks like there is a dependency problem with the kde4-printer-applet rpm in the 11.0 kde4 factory repository. The latest rpm will not install due to nothing providing system-config-printer. Huh? The yast conflict.txt is: #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2010-05-19 23:28:54 #### nothing provides system-config-printer needed by kde4-printer-applet-4.4.3-127.1.x86_64 [x] do not install kde4-printer-applet-4.4.3-127.1.x86_64 This applies to both i586 and x86_64. Guys, For those using 11.0, Dominique Leuenberger, the compiz maintainer, has built the brand new compiz 8.6 for 11.0 and put the rpms in repositories/X11:/Compiz/openSUSE_11.0/ It works great. The only current package that hasn't built with 8.6 is the compiz-plugins-unsupported package. Additionally, there is not emerald built in that directory. I'll see if I can find out how to build the emerald packages. In the mean time, go download 8.6 if you are interested, test it, and provide feedback to Dominique (get his email from his Novell user account or mail me privately).
