[opensuse] ATA over ethernet / vblade configuration

I am using AoE and vblade on openSUSE 11.2, It is working great. As things stand now, there is no configuration support in openSUSE for these services. I think it would be good if there was. I have two questions: 1) Is there anyone who has made any sort of a configuration setup for these? 2) Any suggestions as to the best framework to make such a thing in. I guess something using /etc/sysconfig and rc scripts? Or something else? The configuration is not so difficult. It is mainly registering files to share. At least for my use. [opensuse] compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0 (Both KDEs, Gnome OK)

Listmates, After yesterdays updates, compiz 8.2 from the X11: repository is dead in the water on 11.0. The funny thing is compiz is working perfectly in Gnome?? I am scratching my head why compiz suddenly stopped working in KDE. The compiz packages I have installed are from the X11 repository: 13:28 alchemy:~/img/wrk/emerald> rpm -qa | grep "compiz\|fusion\|emerald" | sort compiz-0.8.2-162.1 compiz-branding-openSUSE-0.8.2-162.1 compiz-branding-SLE-0.8.2-162.1 compizconfig-settings-manager-0.8.2-105.1 compiz-emerald-0.8.2-2.2 compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-16.1 compiz-gnome-0.8.2-162.1 compiz-kde-0.8.2-162.1 compiz-plugins-extra-0.8.2-102.1 compiz-plugins-main-0.8.2-100.1 compiz-plugins-unsupported-0.8.2-100.1 emerald-themes-extra-0.1.0-5.2 fusion-icon-0.0.1_080201-7.1 libcompizconfig-0.8.2-10.1 python-compizconfig-0.8.2-3.2 (Note: compiz-kde4 will not install without breaking dependencies, it is still for kde 4.0.4) Yesterday, after the problem occurred, I completely removed compiz from my system and reinstalled - same issue. I'm writing this email from Gnome where compiz is working just fine -- that is the strange part. In KDE (either one), the errors received when attempting to start compiz are: 21:36 alchemy:~> compiz (core) - Error: Another window manager is already running on screen: 0 compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0 [1]+ Exit 1 compiz --replace --sm-disable --indirect-rendering --ignore-desktop-hints ccp The errors are the same regardless of whether a manual start is used (as above) or a start attempt is made with compiz-manager. Prior to yesterdays updates, compiz was working fine for both kde3 and kde4. I'm not sure where to start on this one. Compiz folks, BKW, etc... what are your thoughts? [opensuse] 11.0 kde43 - Invalid D-BUS interface name 'org.kde.plasma-desktop.PlasmaApp'

kde4 Devs, Another problem I am having with the plasma desktop is that the plasma widgets no longer have the little flyout rectangle with resize, configure, kill, etc.. Restarting plasma I get: 15:50 alchemy:~> kbuildsycoca4 running... Invalid D-BUS interface name 'org.kde.plasma-desktop.PlasmaApp' found while parsing introspection What's wrong with the dbus interface and could this be the reason I don't have the flyouts on widgets anymore?? [opensuse] KDE 4 high contrast colour scheme for openSUSE 11.2

Hi! When I last tested KDE 4 (4.1.x) on openSUSE 10.3, it did not come with a pre-defined high-contrast white-on-black colour scheme. I tried to create one, but found it too difficult a task to accomplish with reasonable effort -- if I remember correctly, there were so many options to set colours for in comparison KDE 3 that I simply failed to create a simple high-contrast colour scheme without this or that thing always lacking a sensible colour. So I was wondering, now that I am getting a new system and choosing between Ubuntu/Gnome and openSUSE/KDE4, does the KDE on 11.2 come with a predefined high-contrast (white on black or white on dark) colour scheme? Gnome does have one, albeit not exactly high-contrast; it is still relatively easy to change the colour values for the supposedly-highcontrasted GTK colour scheme there (which is for some UI aspects anything but high contrast, but that's a whole another issue.) So, has the lack of high-contrast colour schemes been addressed in newer openSUSE KDE releases? Thanks for any info on this! [opensuse] file list updating in KDE3

Hello: I have this problem in openSUSE 11.2 with KDE 3.5.10: I always have to reload file list in Krusader if a new file is added to a directory. In earlier suse I used (10.3) the list was updated automatically, it was not needed to reload it manually. Also, when I added or changed a file in krusader the change was reflected in other applications, eg. digikam file list. Now it is not. How could I fix this? [opensuse] numa performance problems on 11.1 running linux 2.6.27

Has anyone observed or investigated performance problems on 11.1 (linux 2.6.27) on NUMA systems ? I have a performance problem with a cpu intensive program that has four instances, one locked to each core. It's not the hardware, an earlier version of linux running on the same hardware did not have this problem (linux 2.6.15). If you have any suggestions for analyzing the issue, I would appreciate it. [opensuse] Configuring Wacom Tablet

My penpartner tablet seems to work well in openSUSE 11.2 however I'd like to make a slight change to its configuration. Yast no longer has a graphics option. How can I configure this tablet?
