[opensuse] Impossible to use Asterisk PBX on 11.1

What is going on with the quality of openSUSE 11.1? It's not even possible to use Asterisk PBX! [opensuse] zypper and vendors.d

I've added the build service samba repo to my config, and of course it doesn't show any updates when executing 'zypper lu', because it's not the same vendor as the base system.. Running 'zypper lu -a' shows them.. So, I looked at some options, and I should be able to add valid vendors to a file in /etc/zypp/vendors.d that is supposed to validate them to zypper. If I'm not mistaken.. Looking at 'zypper if samba' gives that 'Vendor: openSUSE Build Service' which isn't surprising, so I made a file in /etc/zypp/vendors.d that has this in it: [main] vendors = opensuse,open,suse But zypper still won't show samba updates as valid... Am I doing things wrong, or do I have to make a manual update to get the vendor change in place? Anders. Hi I run this command each time I start enlightenment: trayer --edge bottom --align right --widthtype 15% Is there a way to do it automatically? The autostart e module only runs binaries without the possibility to add arguments. 11.1 with the 1 click e cvs install. Hi list, I'm unable to get iptables to accept the -m state argument: iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 21 -m state --state NEW -m recent --set --name FTPD iptables: Invalid argument If i ommit "-m state --state NEW" in the above command, it succeeds. [opensuse] Dual boot and suspend to disk

I am using openSUSE 11.1 (+KDE3) in dual boot with Windows XP and grub as my boot manager. I would like to be able to suspend suse to disk, reboot to Windows, use Windows for a while, and reboot again to resume using suse. Everything works fine, except that after suspending suse and turning the computer back on grub automatically resumes suse. I have 6 vservers running on a Celeron 2.6 GHz w/ 1 GB main memory, without any performance problems. The host system provides no public services at all, just iptables, ntpd, and a heavily restricted ssh. The vservers are used to encapsulate a Web server, a mail server, a DNS server, and a VPN gateway; all of them Internet-facing, and two vservers with internal backend functionality (PostgreSQL and an application server) that are used by the other vservers. The installation works like a charm and is very low-maintenance. The system is headless and managed purely via ssh. A tip: It is very important to put upfront thought in update and patch management; that's independent from any virtualization solution. The problematic point with vservers is IMHO that there's a lot of documentation -- but no good one ... one has a lot to experiment when one sets up the stuff. Oh yeah, and there are no vserver packages for OpenSUSE, AFAIK. (My setup uses Debian, both for available packages and also for its much longer release cycle.) [opensuse] How to revert from SUSE 11.1 to SUSE 11

Hi, Please let me know how to revert completely from SUSE 11.1 to SUSE 11. Beacuse I am facing some issues related to speed, minicom and others. Because I need to start my work urgently, I need the previous configuration (suse 11). I tried updating with SUSE 11 DVD, but it raised some new issues. So, please tell me how to revert from SUSE 11.1 to SUSE 11. [opensuse] 11.1 Intel Graphic Problem on Dell Notebook

I have a Dell Latitude X200 notebook which uses the Intel 82830 (i830) graphics chip. I have installed openSUSE 11.1 on this notebook but so far have been unsuccessful in getting X configured. Durning the install itself at the first screen I left the resolution at the SUSE suggested 800x600 resolution. Later I realized I should have reset that resolution to 1024x768 as Dell lists the resolution at 1024x768@60. No matter what i do now sax2 will only use 800x600 to try and configure the xserver which of course fails at that resolution. lspci shows I have an Intel 82830 graphic chip, sax2 -p shows an Intel i830 graphics chip at 0 and when looking at the xorg.conf file the intel driver is the chosen driver. According to the x.org website the intel driver is the correct driver for the 82830 chip. I have run the following commands: sax2 -r sax2 -r -m 0=intel sax2 -a sax2 --vesa 0:1024x768 sax2 -a --vesa 0:1024x768@60 sax2 -r -m 0=intel --vesa 0:1024x768@60 No matter what I have done when I look at the xorg.conf file all I see are modelines for 800x600. I even edited the xorg.conf file by switching the "preferred resolution" from 800x600 to 1024x768 and then generated my own modelines at 1024x768@60. I ran startx but the screen was not much different than with the sax2 generated modelines, just went from blueish to brownish junk. I then reran sax2 with no options hoping sax2 would use the "preferred" 1024x768 resolution but sax2 went back to 800x600. Googling this issues show that for most people this is a non-issue, that is the xserver fires up the first time with no problems. Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how I can get this fixed?
