[opensuse] What are the correct repos for kde43 on 11.0?

Listmates, Anders clued me into the fact that factory is/will be holding kde4.4 beta packages and not to mix kde4.3 & 4.4 packages (makes sense). However that begs the question, Which repos are the correct repos to make sure you have the latest 4.3?? The problem is that: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/43/openSUSE_11.0/ does have the kde4.3 base, but many of the additional packages for the install were pulled from factory/kde4-community, factory/kde4-backports, and factory/kde4-playground. [opensuse] Suggested Video Cards?

Can someone recommend what is a good video card to use for openSUSE? I know ATI after a while drops support for cards in their drivers so that is out of the question. What about Nvida? I was looking at GeForce 9500 GT based cards because they are reasonably priced but should I expect decent driver support in Linux for a reasonable amount of time? The card will not be used for playing games but it should support the vendor's drivers, let 3d acceleration work in Linux and work well with Compiz (or whatever the desktop effects are now called.) -- Med Vennlig Hilsen, A. [opensuse] amarok plasmoids do not refresh

Problem: The plasmoid can read the station, tune and artist when it is loaded, but when a new tunes comes it does not refresh and keeps the old info.If I stop and play on the plasmoid the new tune is loaded. The plasmoids I use are PlayWolf and NowPlaying. Both offers the same behavior. Now if I hover on the amarok object located on the system tray it shows the correct information. [opensuse] Date display format in CLI

"locale" shows the correct info for me i.e. "en_GB.UTF-8" but the date is always displayed YYYYMMDD when doing "ls -l" etc in the console. KDE seems to deal with it correctly. [opensuse] Very strange boot roblem

Hello SuSE people, I installed 11.2 a couple of weeks ago and have been playing with it on and off. Booted and ran just fine. At the present I have 3 other OS's installed. (10.2, 11.0, and winders) (11.0 is my everyday user system) Last thursday I had a catastrophic failure of my MB. I replaced the MB and processor and got up running again. Except that 11.2 won't boot now. It starts with grub and gets about half way through the boot process and fails with the message "Cannot locate /dev/disk/by-label/11.2". Then it offers to look for the /dev/disk/by-id (which it identifies correctly) and I answer yes. Then it grinds away for awhile generating several lines of dots, and then tries to dump me into a shell and also fails with a kernel panic. That is the very disk it is actually booting from???? and it can't find it?? To be fair, the grub that it is using is on 11.0 There are no logs generated. And maybe I don't understand the boot process well enought. Does the process run for a long time before it gets around to loading the software? When the failure occurred it was at turning the machine on. What could have happened to cause this and how do I fix it? Some clues, ideas please? [opensuse] Google Chrome - Default Browser?

Should Opensuse consider making Google Chrome the default browser for KDE? Its faster than Firefox, and seems at least as capable as Kong. Drawbacks? Would Google allow it? Would it fit? Opinions? [opensuse] Unable to rip an audio cd into mp3's using 11.2

I've got packman in my repo list and everything I think I need, came from there. I can play them. I seem to ba able to play anything. Neither k3b or dolphin work. All I get when playing one that has been ripped by k3b or via dolphin from an audio CD is static. Oggs and wavs are good. Just mp3s. Is there is a trick other than getting the right packages from packman??? http://en.opensuse.org/Live_USB_stick Q: how the OS knows that it has to use the 2nd partition to store (make permanent or stick) the changes I made? I dd the live cd into the usb stick. Then I create the second partition. Everything is working great. When you use a live CD of course any changes you make are only store for the session, after you reboot everything is lost. After I dd the live cd to the usb stick and IPL from there it behave the same as the CD: changes were only for the session. Then I created the space and added a second partition. Now every change I made, is permanent and stays after reboot. The question is how? What the second partition holds and how it gets there?
