Nope. You completely misunderstood the problem. The OP does not want to ALWAYS open that terminal program as root. The problem is that when you run file manager (Dolphin) in super user mode any task launched from dolphin should also run as super user. So, if you clicked an rpm it should install it without asking for a password again. If you navigated to /root, you should be able to open any text file you have laying around in there by just clicking it. [opensuse] Digikam question / problem

I just did an upgrade to 11.1 after an hd crash (had 11.0). When I try and run digikam ?(digikam/ kde3 0.9.4)it does not recognise my camera ( Sony DSC- S90 ), ( also not even seen as a plugged in device, again it was ok in 11.0 ) before I picked something close and it ran without problems. What should I look at first?? I am downloading 11.2 to try on another machine and will test the camera there just in case... Hello: In openSUSE 11.2 YasT Control Center's right side window shows all the configurable items independently from what is selected in the left window. Can it be set as in earlier suse versions, ie. only those items are shown in the right window which belong to the group selected in the left window. [opensuse] Local mail on 11.2

Hi all, It does not appear that local mail on a new install of 11.2 is working. The main reason I want this is to have root's messages sent to me. I selected this option during the installation and /etc/aliases contains the line root: don That was all that I recall doing with previous versions, but it does not appear to be working this time. I've been using kmail and zero messages have shown up over the last week. As a test at the command line I just tried don@linux-ath64:~> mail don Subject: A test This is a test . EOT So as I understand it a message should have been sent. But then don@linux-ath64:~> mail No mail for don I really don't know much about how to configure this - it always "just worked" before. [opensuse] gwenview and exif

When trying to rotate images according to exif from my camera, gwenview will only rotate single images. Choosing more images to rotate using exif seems to work but file>save is greyed out and the exif rotation is lost. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Or give me a one liner for imagemagik to effect the same? 11.2 zypper dup 2 days ago. All I want to do is take my photos and have them in the correct orientation. Say my original photos are in /foo and I want my rotated images in /bar. [opensuse] Sven? Other Old KDE3 Guys (how to setup kde3 after installed from 11.2 repo?)

Guys, I have installed kde3 from the opensuse 11.2 repository and it starts and runs fine, but simply installing the packages does not provide you with an initial configuration for the system. (i.e. the control panel and menus are empty, the kio_slaves are not configured, etc...). I have picked throught the doc and bin directory finding such things as kde- config, kde-build, kdeinit, kde-menu, kdesvn-build, ... and others, but I haven't stumbled upon (or figured out) what set of scripts or utilities you are supposed to run to initialize the installation. It looks like all of the /opt/kde3/share/config and (config.kcfg) files are present, but apparently no post-install scripts were run to tie all the pieces together. I have never had to reinitialize a kde3 config before. What are your thoughts about the best way to go about doing this? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
