Andrew, After cloning the HDD, seems I cannot instantly use the 2nd HDD as I should change the Serial Number (part of disk ID). Hope you would help me sometime as I may be get difficulty to try it. [opensuse] CD Won't Automount

OpenSuSE 11.2 on dedicated HD. I find that the CD Drive is not mounted when the system is booted. The CD icon appears in the Dolphin Places window. When I click on Media I ger the message: "An error occurred while accessing 'CDROM', the system responded: org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.InterfaceLocked: The enclosing drive for the volums is locked" What do I have to do to unlock the drive? Oh, I can boot from the text mode, no problem. I just wanted to know if the DVD might be defect; then there could have been more problems. If it's really just a glitch in the boot sequence, I have no qualms with it. [opensuse] Can SuSEfirewall2 restrict requests originating on the host and routed using masquerade?

Previously, on Debian, I was using FireHOL to configure IPTables to setup a Internet and email gateway; routing only HTTP/HTTPS requests from internal IPs to the Internet for certain workstations using masquerade. Recently I have moved to openSUSE because I favor it and believe that YaST makes system administration simple, even for those unfamiliar with Linux. Unfortunately, a workstation that was configured to use it as a gateway, was infected with a cutwail spambot and, since I had masquerading enabled, it immediately sent out spam (port 25) since there was no restriction on packets being routed to the Internet. I thought I read in the openSUSE security manual that the firewall does NOT put restrictions on packets that originate on the host but only incoming packets. I would imagine this applies to packets that are routed using masquerade since I cannot find anywhere to specify particular services. Is there a way to specify what packets are routed using masquerade on SuSEfirewall2? If not, what other firewall/packet filtering software can I use instead writing my own IPTable rules? [opensuse] A discrepancy between real and reported Shockwave levels

YaST reported that both the stand-alone Adobe Flash player (which actually is described in the Software Manager as "Standalone and plugin" and the separate plugin line for Flash plugin are at level 10.0.32.18, but the plugin is displayed in red characters. No doubt the red display is intended to flag that this separate line shouldn't be there at all. about:plugins says that the installed Shockwave plugin is at 10.0.r32, which is obviously not the same thing. Trying to clear this up, I deleted the separate plugin, and that line dieappeared entirely, which confirms my assumption. (I neglected to shut down Firefox first, which in retrospect was probably a mistake.) But about:plugins still says that the installed plugin is 10.0.r32, even after shutting down Firefox and reloading it. [opensuse] gtk font settings are not stored/applied?

Hello: I have this problem in openSUSE 11.2 with KDE 3.5.10 After logging in and starting firefox, the browsers menu's font size is very small. I have changed it running gome-control-center and set larger fonts. But after logout/login and starting firefox again the fons are set back to the original size. If I am running gnome-control-center the fonts are being set to my defaults again without changing anything in the font-panel of the control-center. So, why my gtk font settings are not kept if I logout/login, and why are they set when I run gnome-control-center? How could I permanently change those font sizes? I have always used trap "echo my trap command" INT The differences from yours are (1) I use double quotes and (2) there is a space before the signal number. The last may just be your e-mail version. [opensuse] Which Bugzilla: KDE Colors leak into Firefox on OpenSuse

I can't figure out where to even start searching for this bug, or who to report it to. Some colors from KDE 4 color schemes leak into some things like Firefox and can leave you with unreadable elements in the page. If you use a light text on dark background color scheme in KDE, some text entry boxes come up with white text on a white background. Example: The search box on www.kde.org (lower left corner) Gmail (web interface) is really odd. Plug/insert something and device notifier pops up the message fairly smartly and gives me choices as to what to do with it... It's what happens on UNmounting/ejecting etc that appears broken - regardless of what device is plugged in, device notifier won't let me unplug it/gives me the warning. Again, I can manually unmount (umount) every time, as a user. I'm assuming that if Beagle or any other process is using the drive, either fuser or lsof (or both) should pick that up, but they always show nothing using the device... What is the device notifier process/package? would it be possible to uninstall/reinstall (without millions of dependancies... :-( ) Hardware works fine in Windows....
